Summary: Lead-free (1-x)(K0.5Na0.5)(Nb0.96Sb0.04)O-3-x(Bi0.5Na0.5)(Zr0.8Ti0.2)O-3 ceramics were synthesized using the solid-state method, and the effects of composition on phase evolution, microstructure, oxygen vacancy defect, and electrical properties were investigated. The results showed that the addition of (Bi0.5Na0.5)(Zr0.8Ti0.2)O-3 significantly influenced the phase structure and electrical properties of the ceramics, making it a promising lead-free piezoelectric material.

Summary: Despite its importance from scientific and technological perspectives, there have been few systematic studies on the dielectric spectra of (K,Na)NbO3-based lead-free ceramics, especially in the poled state. This study selected a representative compositional series of (1-x)(K0.48Na0.52)(Nb0.96Sb0.04)O3-x(Bi0.50Na0.50) ZrO3 ceramics to investigate their dielectric properties. The unpoled ceramics exhibited large dispersion in the dielectric spectra with relaxational characteristic frequency exceeding 60 MHz at room temperature. After poling, additional resonance peaks due to electromechanical coupling appeared, accompanied by a significant reduction in dielectric permittivity (epsilon '). An abnormal phenomenon of increased low-frequency epsilon ' was observed in ceramics with x ≥ 0.04 at room temperature, which was confirmed to be closely related to the orthorhombic-tetragonal and rhombohedral-orthorhombic polymorphic phase transitions. Further analysis of the domain structure indicated that this abnormal phenomenon was attributed to the enhancement of domain-wall mobility resulting from the reduction of domain-wall density due to poling.

Summary: This study demonstrates that the presence of two-phase coexistence in KNN-based ceramics makes domain reorientation easier and more sufficient. In addition, a new intermediate phase is found to occur under an external electric field, which can relieve the internal stress generated by domain reorientation and facilitate further domain switching. The enhanced domain reorientation contributes to the high piezoelectric response in the PPB region. This research provides important insights into the design of lead-free high-performance piezoelectric materials.

Summary: The study investigated the impact of zirconium non-stoichiometry on the phase structure, domain structure, and electrical behavior of ceramics. All ceramics exhibited a pure perovskite structure with a rhombohedral phase. The maximum values of piezoelectric coefficient, remanent polarization, and coercive electric field were achieved with a specific zirconium content.

Summary: Lead-free (BaxCTZ) ceramics exhibit a field insensitive giant dynamic piezoelectric response with a high strain value, attributed to the chemical modulated O-T PPB and field induced partially irreversible T-O phase transition. These compositions show great potential for applications in lead-free actuator piezoceramics.

Summary: The influence of CaZrO3 doping on the properties of KNLNT piezoelectric ceramics was systematically investigated, revealing changes in crystal structure and properties. XRD and temperature-dependent dielectric properties analysis showed the coexistence of orthorhombic and pseudocubic phases at x = 0.03, leading to an anomalous remnant polarization.

Summary: In this work, lead-free ceramics with narrow bandgaps and large remanent polarization are obtained via Fe2O3 doping. The optimized ceramic possesses a narrow bandgap of 1.74 eV and a large remanent polarization of 27.05 muC/cm2. Furthermore, a switchable photovoltaic effect is observed in the ceramic-based device.

Summary: Correlated phase and microstructural evolution in Sr-deficient Sr(Ti, Nb)O-3 (STNO) thermoelectric ceramics with different fractions of reduced graphene oxide (RGO) were systematically investigated using electron microscopies. It was found that RGO has a unique reducing effect on the microstructure of doped SrTiO3 with Sr deficiency, affecting the formation of precipitates and the variation of Sr deficiency.

Summary: This experiment focuses on the composite of tetragonal and orthorhombic phases of (Pb, La)(Zr, Sn, Ti)O3 (PLZST) ceramics to achieve high energy storage density. The coexistence of the two phases results in a decrease in dielectric constant and an increase in electrical breakdown strength as the content of orthorhombic phase PLZST increases. Additionally, the energy storage performance is significantly improved, with an effective energy storage density of 3.44 J/cm3 in the sample with x = 0.6.

Summary: Orthorhombic and tetragonal phase CaLaGaO4 ceramics were synthesized using a conventional solid-state method in this study. The crystal structure and phase evolution were investigated, and it was found that different phases coexisted at certain sintering temperature ranges, leading to variations in microwave dielectric properties. Theoretical permittivity calculations based on specific equations provided insights into accurate estimation of properties in low-symmetry-structure ceramics.

Summary: The chemical composition of (K,Na)NbO3-based ceramics significantly influences their piezoelectric properties, phase transitions, and domain structures, impacting the piezoelectric coefficient d(33), orthorhombic-tetragonal (O-T) phase transition, and domain structure. The study demonstrates that the ceramic with the composition x = 0.037 exhibits exceptional piezoelectric properties attributed to the coexistence of O-T phase and unique domain structure.
