Summary: This research introduces a method for fabricating a flexible piezoelectric nanogenerator using a thin film of room temperature deposited nanocrystalline aluminium nitride. The thin film was grown on a thin layer of aluminium using pulsed laser deposition. The results indicate that the electro-mechanical energy conversion metrics of this material are comparable to those of c-axis oriented aluminium nitride and zinc oxide thin films.

Summary: In this study, highly oriented single-phase nanocrystalline films of VO2(A) were successfully grown on glass substrates at room temperature using pulsed laser deposition technique. Various properties of the deposited thin films were studied, and a correlation between growth conditions and plasma characteristics was identified. This research opens up new possibilities for growing VO2 polymorphs at very low temperatures for novel device functionalities.

Summary: This study investigates the relationship between growth conditions and the properties of Bi2Te3Sb1.5 thin films grown on polyimide substrates using the PLD method. It is found that reducing the droplet fraction can increase the power factor of the film. The study also reveals the effect of film thickness on the material's efficiency and the growth dynamics of Bi2Te3Sb1.5 films.

Summary: In this study, Pr0.5Sr0.5MnO3 nanoparticles were synthesized using pulsed laser deposition under varying energy conditions and heat-treated to achieve highly crystalline structures. Magnetic investigations showed that the nanoparticles exhibited useful magnetic transitions suitable for magnetocaloric, magnetoresistivity, and medical applications, despite some surface interactions affecting their behavior.

Summary: In this study, multilayer graphene thin films (MLG) were grown without a catalyst on Si/SiO2 using pulsed laser deposition (PLD). It was found that 500 laser pulses were required to produce fully covered samples, which contained approximately 5 layers of graphene. The number of layers was not affected by the laser fluence and the sample cooling rate, but increasing the laser fluence resulted in a reduction in MLG resistance. PLD method is suitable for producing nanocrystalline MLG with similar electrical conductivity as commercial CVD graphene.

Summary: NbOx thin films with analog resistive switching characteristics were fabricated using droplet-free pulsed laser deposition. The memristive properties of the films were controlled by adjusting the oxygen pressure and laser wavelength. The stoichiometry of the films was controlled through various analytical techniques. The film thickness also affected the resistive switching characteristics.

Summary: The van der Waals epitaxy of Bi2Te3 is impossible in vacuum PLD, but possible in the presence of a background gas. An unusual hexagonal superstructure resembling a charge-density wave is also observed.

Summary: This study aims to improve the electrochemical behavior of industrial steel using [CoN/AlN]n multilayered system via reactive Pulsed Laser Deposition technique. By systematically varying the bilayer period, the coating with Δ equal to 34.7 nm showed the maximum corrosion resistance. The electrochemical results found in the [CoN/AlN]n suggest potential future applications in mechanical devices under high service conditions.

Summary: Graphene-based composite thin films were deposited on glass substrates using Pulsed Laser Deposition (PLD) at room temperature. The annealing temperature was found to have a significant effect on the chemical properties and photocatalytic activity of the nanocomposite films. The stoichiometry and optical characteristics of the films could be accurately adjusted through optimized annealing temperature. Confocal Raman spectroscopy confirmed the formation of a composite film with features of both ZnO and GQDs at 300°C. The optimized nanocomposite film showed a high photocatalytic ability with an 84% degradation rate for dye.

Summary: In this study, pure Hydroxyapatite (HA) and Cu-substituted HA (Cu-HA) coatings were prepared on stainless steel substrates using a pulsed laser deposition (PLD) technique. The crystallinity of the films was significantly modified by the percentages of Cu dopants, laser energy, and annealing temperature. The morphology and structural properties of the coatings were analyzed using FESEM, XRD, and Raman spectroscopy. The synthesized films exhibited dense and compact microstructures, and the irregular surface and crystalline structure promoted cell proliferation in medical and biomedical applications.

Summary: This study demonstrates that ferroelectric properties can be observed in non-capped dopant-free HfO2 thin films by adjusting the deposition temperature, oxygen pressure, and thickness. A maximum polarization strength of 14.7 mu C/cm(2) was achieved in a 7.4 nm-thick film, suggesting a new method for fabricating high-quality ferroelectric HfO2 thin films.

Summary: This study investigates the reactive sputtering process for depositing epitaxially grown AlN films on Si(111) substrates, with XRD and rocking curves used to determine crystalline orientation. Effects of substrate temperature, target-substrate distance, and target voltage on RC-FWHM were studied, showing best oriented films achieved FWHM of 0.93.

Summary: In this study, we investigated the effect of laser repetition rate on the properties of FST superconducting films deposited by pulsed laser deposition. We found that as the laser repetition rate increases, the crystallinity and stoichiometry of the films deteriorate, resulting in a degeneration in superconductivity. However, by increasing the substrate temperature, we were able to successfully deposit high-performance FST films at a high repetition rate.

Summary: CuI thin films were deposited with controlled morphology, structure, and defect nature in different Ar atmospheres. Band gap tailoring was achieved by controlling the plasma ion kinetic energy. Variation in Ar pressure allowed control over the nature of vacancies. Addition of Ar resulted in preferential scattering and energy losses of Cu ions in the plasma.
