We have demonstrated selective attachment of streptavidin protein molecules to carbon nanotube (CNT) tips. By applying an alternating electric field to CNTs during the reaction between CNTs and streptavidin protein molecules, the proteins were attached selectively to the CNT tips, where the electric field was concentrated; thereby, sidewall attachment was suppressed.
