A series of platinum-acetylide-phosphine complexes were synthesized and their anti-sulfur-poisoning characteristics investigated. In comparison with Speier's and Karstedt's catalysts, the platinum-acetylide-phosphine complexes exhibited both higher catalytic activity and selectivity for the -adduct for the hydrosilylation reactions under the same conditions. Furthermore, the complexes also exhibited a strong ability to resist to sulfur-poisoning. This indicated that the alkyne ligands containing the silyl group had a strong impact on the hydrosilylation reaction. Copyright (c) 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

A bi-population immune algorithm for weapon transportation support scheduling problem with pickup and delivery on aircraft carrier deck

Fang Guo, Wei Han, Xi-chao Su, Yu-jie Liu, Rong-wei Cui

Summary: This paper studies the problem of weapon transportation support scheduling on an aircraft carrier deck and presents a novel solution architecture. By considering the interference of the carrier-based aircraft deck layout, a mixed integer formulation is established to minimize the total objective. A bi-population immune algorithm is proposed to solve the problem, which outperforms all compared algorithms and significantly improves efficiency. The established model and algorithm effectively respond to the weapon support requirements of carrier-based aircraft under different sortie missions.

Enhanced benzofluoranthrene removal in constructed wetlands with iron-modified biochar: Mediated by dissolved organic matter and microbial response

Yan Kang, Haoqin Ma, Zequan Jing, Chaonan Zhu, Yixin Li, Haiming Wu, Peng Dai, Zizhang Guo, Jian Zhang

Summary: The use of iron-modified biochar in constructed wetlands enhances the removal of benzofluoranthrene and ammonium by increasing microbial degradation. The iron-mediated biochar increases dissolved organic carbon content and enriches microbial abundance and key enzymes involved in PAH degradation. This study confirms that the use of iron-modified biochar in constructed wetlands enhances PAH removal.

Polymer- and lipid-based nanocarriers for ocular drug delivery: Current status and future perspectives

Haijie Han, Su Li, Mingyu Xu, Yueyang Zhong, Wenjie Fan, Jingwei Xu, Tinglian Zhou, Jian Ji, Juan Ye, Ke Yao

Summary: Ocular diseases have a significant impact on patients' vision and quality of life, with a global prevalence of over 43 million blindness. However, delivering drugs effectively to the eyes, especially for intraocular disorders, remains a major challenge due to various ocular barriers. Recent advancements in nanocarrier technology provide a promising solution by improving drug penetration, retention, solubility, toxicity reduction, release duration, and targeted drug delivery. This review highlights the progress and applications of nanocarriers, specifically polymer- and lipid-based nanocarriers, in treating different eye diseases and their potential for efficient ocular drug delivery. It also discusses ocular barriers, administration routes, and future prospects and challenges in the field of nanocarriers for ocular disease treatment.

MC4R in Central and Peripheral Systems

Ran Wei, Danjie Li, Sheng Jia, Yuhong Chen, Jiqiu Wang

Summary: Obesity has become a critical health burden during the global pandemic, and the melanocortin receptor-4 (MC4R) has been identified as a key genetic factor in severe and early onset obesity. Previous studies have focused on the central role of MC4R in energy intake and expenditure, but evidence suggests its expression in peripheral systems as well. This review aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the central and peripheral roles of MC4R in energy metabolism and endocrine hormone homeostasis.

Jianglong Yao, Yujie Liu, Bingying Jiang, Ruo Yuan, Yun Xiang

Summary: A highly sensitive electrochemical and enzyme-free biosensor is developed for detecting LCN1 using a new aptamer triplex switch probe and dual signal amplification. The sensor can sensitively detect LCN1 from 5 pM to 1 nM with a detection limit of 0.85 pM. It also exhibits high interfering protein discrimination capability and can be used to monitor low levels of LCN1 in diluted tear samples.

Endogenous glutathione-activated DNA nanoprobes for spatially controllable imaging of microRNA in living cells

Yuyan Li, Fanghua Zhang, Wendong Liu, Mingzheng Shao, Zhe Hao, Hongyan Zhang, Ruizhong Zhang, Xiyan Li, Libing Zhang

Summary: A DNA nanoprobe activated by glutathione (GSH) was developed for spatially selective sensing and imaging of miRNA in living cells. The nanoprobe consisted of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and DNA hairpin probes tethered to the MOF surface, with a disulfide bond in the hairpin loop. Cleavage of the disulfide bond by GSH triggered a strand-displacement reaction with target miRNAs, enabling fluorescence signal readout in situ. The combination of endogenous GSH activation and MOF improved the spatial resolution of miRNA detection and imaging.

Improvement of Binocular Reconstruction Algorithm for Measuring 3D Pavement Texture Using a Single Laser Line Scanning Constraint

Yuanyuan Wang, Rui Wang, Xiaofeng Ren, Junan Lei

Summary: In order to improve the density and accuracy of 3D texture measurement in pavement function evaluation, the traditional binocular reconstruction technology was improved in three aspects. Firstly, a single moving laser line was introduced for global scanning constraints to overcome the difficulty of installing and recognizing excessive laser lines. Secondly, four improved algorithms, including disparity replacement, superposition synthesis, subregion segmentation, and subregion segmentation centroid enhancement, were developed based on different constraint mechanisms. Lastly, an improved binocular reconstruction test device was developed to achieve the dual functions of 3D texture measurement and precision self-evaluation. Results showed that the introduction of a single laser line scanning constraint improved the measurement's accuracy. Among the various improved algorithms, the subregion segmentation centroid enhancement method had the best improvement effect and can be considered for use in pavement function evaluation.

Design of blueberry anthocyanin/TiO2 composite layer-based photoanode and N-doped porous blueberry-derived carbon-loaded Ni nanoparticle-based counter electrode for dye-sensitized solar cells

Xiang Qin, Jingjing Liu, Genhui Teng, Baorui Liu, Yanhui Xie, Lin Ma, Dongying Hu

Summary: P25/PBP-TiO2 photoanode and N-doped porous carbon-supported Ni nanoparticles (Ni@NPC-X) were used in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) as the photoanode and counter electrode, respectively, creating a new perspective for blueberry-based photo-powered energy systems. The introduction of PBP into the P25 photoanode and the N doping of the porous carbon improved the adsorption capacity and electron transfer of the electrodes, resulting in higher power conversion efficiency (PCE) and good electrocatalysis and cycle stability.
