A novel chelated ferrocene-based planar chiral N-heterocyclic carbene-Rh(I) complex was synthesized by a simple method. It was applied to the asymmetric transfer hydrogenation of prochiral ketones. Enantioselectivities of up to 67% ee were observed. Copyright (C) 2009 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
