Summary: This study investigated the effects of sleep on language therapy and transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) in individuals with primary progressive aphasia (PPA). The results showed that participants with high sleep efficiency benefited more from language therapy and had better outcomes with tDCS intervention.

Summary: Oral language repetition in kindergarten has long-term benefits for reading and spelling in first grade, especially in diglossic languages. The structured intervention based on oral rhyme repetition can contribute to literacy skills acquisition, even when the language differs from the child's home language.

Summary: With the increasing use of mobile phones among young people, there is concern about the negative effects of digital writing on learners' literacy and language skills. The study compares two corpora of Modern Hebrew to investigate whether nonstandard forms found in spoken Hebrew and digital communication are also present in high-school students' formal writing. The findings show that students tend to adhere to traditional formal writing in school essays but are more lenient in their approach on WhatsApp, challenging popular beliefs about language usage.

Summary: This study investigated the English spelling performance of 569 Spanish-speaking ELLs in Grades 4 to 6. The results showed that consonant- and vowel-based errors were almost equal, and the percentage of students in the second class increased as the grade level increased. The findings of this study suggest the influence of English and Spanish orthographies on the spelling of Spanish-speaking ELLs.

Summary: Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA) is a neurodegenerative disorder primarily affecting language functions. Neuromodulatory techniques and behavioral therapy have shown promising results in treating speech and language deficits in PPA patients. This study found that sex and age differences can influence the effects of active-tDCS and language therapy on network functional connectivity in PPA patients.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the feasibility of anodal tDCS as an adjunct to VNeST to improve discourse production in post-stroke chronic aphasia. The results showed promising changes in discourse production measures and functional communication for the active tDCS group. This suggests that tDCS may be a safe and economical tool for enhancing rehabilitation in chronic aphasia.

Summary: This narrative review focuses on the impact of cross-language influences (CLI) on spelling in English as a foreign language (EFL) learning. By analyzing different types of distance in spelling, we have identified the difficulties experienced by EFL learners. Understanding these distances has important implications for EFL instruction and learning.

Summary: In Italy, there is a lack of referrals to speech and language services for patients with primary progressive aphasia (PPA) due to skepticism about the value of therapy in neurodegeneration. A virtual survey of speech and language therapists (SLTs) in Italy was conducted to gather information about the assessment and management of PPA patients. The results indicate a need to improve awareness and access to intervention for individuals with PPA.

Summary: The learning of writing skills involves re-engaging previously established independent procedures like the lexical route and sublexical procedure. Interventions aimed at restoring the sublexical procedure have shown success in cases of severe agraphia caused by left hemispheric brain injury. In a study of post-stroke aphasics, dual tDCS with anodal and cathodal current showed greater improvement in writing skills compared to sham stimulation, suggesting efficacy for severe agraphia.
