Summary: This study compared the clinical outcomes of hexapod external fixator and monolateral external fixator in the treatment of high-energy tibial diaphyseal fractures. The results showed that the hexapod external fixator had advantages in surgical duration, external fixation time, residual deformity, and complications compared to the monolateral external fixator. However, there was no significant difference in clinical outcomes between the two methods.

Summary: The stability of an external locking plate fixator and a conventional external fixator for tibial fractures was compared using finite element analysis. The study concluded that external locking plate fixation is more flexible and can influence bone healing. However, further experimental and biological analysis is needed to validate these findings.

Summary: This study proposes a novel patient-specific adjustable stiffness external fixator design method for mechanically stimulated tibial fracture reduction and therapy to meet stiffness requirements at different healing stages. By dismantling the block structure external fixator for stiffness adjustment, the external fixator frame can be tailored to the clinical needs of each patient.

Summary: Microbially induced carbonate precipitation (MICP) with additives is a promising approach for seepage control. This study used 3D printing to design and fabricate four cross-fracture models, comparing different types of additives and injection strategies. The results showed that models with plant fibers and gravel particles provided more surfaces for calcium carbonate precipitation and seepage control, while the model with calcium carbonate additive showed the largest decrease in seepage.

Summary: A 3D printed template-assisted method is used to fabricate additive-free 3D architected MXene aerogels with controllable structures and high performance. The MXene ink with a wide range of concentrations allows for the production of MXene aerogels with high structural freedom and fine feature size.

Summary: This study aims to evaluate the restoration of original anatomy after fixation of sawbone fractures using case-specific 3D printing plates based on virtual reduction. The results show that the customized plate based on virtual reduction facilitates the restoration of near-original anatomy in fractures of tibial sawbone shaft.

Summary: A simple and efficient process for fabricating customized aspheric lenses using a stereolithographic 3D printer and a meniscus equilibrium post-curing technique is reported. The experiments showed that lenses printed with DentaClear resin had better surface quality and optical properties compared to those printed with HEMA resin.

Summary: Tibial pilon fractures are difficult to treat, and periarticular external fixation may produce good results. However, the TL-HEX TraumaTM has not been evaluated for this fracture type. This study found that the union rate and time to union with PAEF were lower compared to other studies.

Summary: This study compared the effects of conventional surgery and three-dimensional (3D) printing technology-assisted surgery in the treatment of posterolateral tibial plateau fractures. The 3D printing group showed shorter operation time, less intraoperative blood loss, and fewer fluoroscopy shoots compared to the conventional group. Additionally, the 3D printing group had better radiological and functional outcomes immediately and 12 months post-surgery, with fewer complications.
