Summary: Fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) and core-needle biopsy (CNB) play a useful role in diagnosing head and neck sarcomas, with CNB showing slightly higher accuracy. The diagnostic performance is more reliable for determining malignancy in vascular sarcomas, while chondrogenic sarcomas have poorer diagnostic accuracy.

Summary: In general, LR with subsequent metastasis is a rare event. LR is best viewed as a marker of tumor aggressiveness rather than the cause of metastasis and poor survival. LR in bone sarcoma patients should warn providers of a high risk of imminent metastasis.

Summary: Surgical factors like extent of surgery, margin status, and histological grade of recurrent tumor, as well as well-differentiated liposarcoma histological subtype, were identified as independent prognostic factors for overall survival and disease specific survival in patients with recurrent retroperitoneal sarcoma. The achievement of clear resection margins was highlighted as a key factor for improving survival outcomes.

Summary: This study compares the diagnostic yield and utility of a novel core biopsy needle with shortened tip dead space for percutaneous musculoskeletal biopsies with an established core biopsy needle. The results show that both needles have high diagnostic rates and no adverse events were identified.

Summary: Histological evaluation of surgical margins is crucial for accurate prognostication and adjuvant treatment recommendation after excision of soft tissue sarcoma in dogs. Guidelines are lacking on how to manage clean but close margins, and the impact of CbCM on local recurrence of canine STS is significant. Excised STS with infiltrated margins have the greatest risk of LR, while CbCM may be considered as a separate prognostic category.

Summary: The study highlights the utility of Oncotype Dx on core needle biopsies in guiding treatment decisions for breast cancer patients, particularly in a neoadjuvant setting. This approach can assist in selecting appropriate treatment modalities based on the genomic assay results, contributing to personalized and effective care for early breast cancer patients.

Summary: The study evaluated the technical outcome, diagnostic yield, and safety of CT fluoroscopy-guided percutaneous core needle biopsies in 155 patients with mediastinal masses. The procedure was found to be effective and safe for initial assessment of patients with mediastinal tumors, with a high rate of technical success and diagnostic yield. Minor complications were observed in a small percentage of cases, while major complications were rare.

Summary: Ultrasound-guided percutaneous needle biopsy is a feasible and safe technique for small peripheral pulmonary nodules <= 2 cm. The study found that needle size (16-gauge vs 18-gauge) was an independent influence factor of sample adequacy and post-procedure pneumothorax, with 16-gauge needle having higher sample adequacy but also a higher risk of pneumothorax.

Summary: This study investigated the diagnostic efficacy of CT-guided transthoracic lung core needle biopsy combined with aspiration biopsy and the clinical value of routine microbial detection. The results showed that the combination of core needle biopsy and aspiration biopsy significantly improved the diagnostic rate of benign and malignant lesions. Additionally, aspiration biopsy identified pulmonary malignant lesions complicated with pulmonary tuberculosis and other infections. Overall, the diagnostic ability of CT-guided lung biopsy combined with routine microbial detection was significantly improved in the diagnosis of pulmonary infectious diseases.

Summary: PTC has good prognosis, but local recurrence or distant metastasis can occur. In this case, a 66-year-old female patient had recurrence of PTC in the subcutaneous area with lymph node metastasis following core needle biopsy. Further studies comparing core-needle biopsy and fine-needle aspiration are needed to understand the risk of needle tract implantation.

Summary: This study evaluated perioperative morbidity after surgery for first locally recurrent retroperitoneal sarcoma, showing that a surgical approach to recurrent RPS is relatively safe and resection of recurrent RPS is a reasonable option. Summary: Desmoid-type fibromatosis (DF) is a locally infiltrative, non-metastasizing tumor associated with significant morbidity and mortality, mostly due to somatic CTNNB1 mutations. Alternatively, they can be associated with germline pathogenic variants in APC causing Familial Adenomatous Polyposis (FAP). CTNNB1 molecular testing is important for all newly diagnosed DF cases to determine treatment strategies.
