Photobiomodulation therapy with an 830-nm light-emitting diode for the prevention of thyroidectomy scars: a randomized, double-blind, sham device-controlled clinical trial

Summary: This study evaluated the efficacy and safety of home-based photobiomodulation therapy using an 830-nm LED-based device for preventing and relieving thyroidectomy scars. The treatment group showed significantly higher patient satisfaction and GAS scores, lower NRS and VSS scores, and better improvements in color, height, pigmentation, and vascularity at 6 months compared to the control group.

Summary: This study reports high-power multi-junction vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) that effectively suppress carrier leakage under high injection current and temperature. By optimizing the energy band structure of quaternary AlGaAsSb, a 12-nm-thick AlGaAsSb electron-blocking layer (EBL) was achieved with improved performance. The proposed EBL demonstrated enhanced output power and power conversion efficiency during room-temperature operation, while also exhibiting advantages over the original device during high-temperature operation.

Effects of 830 nm Light-Emitting Diode Therapy on Delayed-Onset Muscle Soreness

Summary: The 830 nm LED therapy showed analgesic effects on postexercise DOMS pain, but did not impact muscle repair process. The LED therapy group had significantly higher PPT values at 48, 72, and 96 hours postexercise, with notable differences in joint range of motion at 72 and 96 hours postexercise compared to the placebo group.

Safety and efficacy of autologous skin tissue cells grafting for facial sunken or flat scars

Summary: This study aimed to determine the safety and efficacy of autologous skin tissue cells grafting for facial sunken or flat scars. The results showed that autologous skin tissue cells grafting can reduce the severity of facial scars, improve the color of scar area, and no infection occurred. Patient satisfaction significantly increased after treatment. Therefore, autologous skin tissue cells grafting may be recommended as a reliable treatment for facial scars.

Heat-resistant reflectors for enhanced 850-nm near infrared light-emitting diode efficiency

Performance analysis for 263 nm AlGaN DUV EELD by different EBL techniques

Summary: The spectral linewidth of semiconductor lasers is an important parameter for many applications. Increasing the optical cavity length and removing the active layers can improve the coherence of the laser. By using a two-step epitaxy method, the extended cavity diode laser concept is realized. The extended passive section reduces the laser linewidth without deteriorating the electro-optical properties or frequency stability.

Improved Optical Efficiency of 850-nm Infrared Light-Emitting Diode with Reflective Transparent Structure

Summary: This study focused on improving the optical efficiency of 850 nm IR-LEDs by using a reflective transparent structure. The structure combined a transparent epitaxial structure to extract photons vertically and horizontally, and a reflective bonding structure to reflect photons emitted downwards in an upward direction. The results showed that the IR-LEDs with the reflective transparent structure had a significantly higher output power compared to conventional IR-LEDs.

Strategic Infarct Locations for Poststroke Depressive Symptoms: A Lesion- and Disconnection-Symptom Mapping Study

Summary: This study used lesion-symptom mapping to identify infarct locations and white matter disconnections associated with poststroke depressive symptoms (PSDS). The results showed that infarcts in the right amygdala, right hippocampus, and right pallidum were consistently associated with PSDS. Disconnectome-based analyses revealed disconnections in the right parahippocampal white matter, right thalamus and pallidum, and right anterior thalamic radiation were significantly associated with PSDS.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the impact of covert brain infarction (CBI) on the risk of stroke recurrence in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). A prospective cohort study was conducted on patients with acute ischemic stroke, and AF patients without a history of stroke or transient ischemic attack were enrolled. The results showed that CBI may increase the risk of stroke recurrence in patients with AF.

Summary: The goal of this study is to determine whether a longer duration of dual antiplatelet therapy with clopidogrel-aspirin can reduce the risk of recurrent vascular events in patients with large artery atherosclerotic (LAA) stroke subtype. This is a multicenter, prospective, randomized study comparing the efficacy and safety of a 12-month duration of DAPT versus a 3-month duration of DAPT in LAA stroke subtype patients. The results of this study will help stroke physicians determine the appropriate duration of dual therapy for LAA stroke subtype patients.
