Summary: This study found that tocilizumab can improve myocardial salvage in ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients by reducing neutrophil count and attenuating neutrophil function. In addition, the study also found that a lower CD8(+) count is associated with improved myocardial salvage in patients admitted to the hospital after a longer duration of symptoms.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the prognostic value of the culprit vessel's SYNTAX score (cul-SS) in patients presenting with myocardial infarction (MI). The results showed that cul-SS was as successful as the SYNTAX score in predicting stent thrombosis and was superior in predicting short-term death and major complications.

Summary: This study evaluated the prognostic significance of the SYNTAX score (SS) and SYNTAX score II (SS-II) in myocardial infarction (MI) patients treated with percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). The results showed that SS-II was a stronger predictor of long-term mortality than SS in this real-world cohort of MI patients treated with PCI.

Summary: This study found an inverse association between HRR and depression in older adults, suggesting that HRR could be an independent risk factor for depression. HRR has the potential to facilitate early detection and prevention of clinical deterioration or relapses in depression, and could serve as a viable treatment target.

Summary: This study aims to explore the relationship between the severity of coronary artery disease (CAD) and the occurrence of ventricular tachycardia/ventricular fibrillation (VT/VF) in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI). The findings suggest that the SYNTAX score (SS) and FSScaFFR are closely associated with the occurrence of VT/VF in AMI patients.

Summary: This study found that patients with single subcortical infarctions may have different predictors for early neurological deterioration depending on the location of the lesion. Initial NIHSS score, pulsatility index, parent artery disease, and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio were associated with early neurological deterioration in these patients.

Summary: The study confirmed that baseline HCY level and RDW value in STEMI patients undergoing PCI are independently associated with increased risk for MACE outcome. Joint assessment of HCY and RDW enhances risk prediction ability, with RDW identified as a stronger predictor of unfavorable prognosis in AMI patients.

Summary: Elevated red cell distribution width (RDW) has been associated with a range of health outcomes. This study found significant associations between RDW and various cardiovascular outcomes, diabetes, chronic kidney disease (CKD) and mortality. Additionally, a significant inverse association was observed between genetically determined RDW and incidence of diabetes.

Summary: Red blood cell distribution width (RDW) to platelet ratio (RPR) is a novel inflammatory indicator that is associated with adverse outcomes. Our study found that RPR is associated with the 180-day in-hospital mortality in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI), highlighting its importance in predicting prognosis.

Summary: Coronary plaque burden is positively correlated with non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (non-HDL-C) levels and triglyceride/high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (TG/HDL-C) ratio in young adults. Serum non-HDL-C levels and TG/HDL-C ratio can be used as easy-to-compute markers for identifying high-risk groups in young adults.

Summary: In critical COVID-19 patients with cardiovascular disease, older age and comorbidities such as cancer, hypertension, diabetes, and chronic renal failure were associated with increased mortality risk. While the presence of fQRS on baseline ECG was not statistically significant, the coexistence of cardiovascular disease and fQRS independently predicted mortality. Additionally, other factors such as high SOFA score and increased CRP level were also predictive of mortality. This suggests that fQRS could be a valuable tool for risk stratification in identifying high-risk individuals, particularly in patients with cardiovascular disease.

Summary: The plasma levels of human neutrophil peptide-1,-2, and-3 (HNP1-3) were significantly higher in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) compared to controls, but did not show a significant correlation with angiographic disease severity. Further studies on larger populations are warranted to explore the relationship between HNP1-3 levels and severity of coronary artery disease.
