Summary: Metal-catalyzed [2+2+2] cycloaddition is a powerful method for the rapid construction of functionalized 6-membered carbo- and heterocycles with high functional group tolerance. The reaction is usually regio- and chemoselective, but challenges remain for intermolecular reactions involving multiple alkynes.

Summary: The synthesis of 2-substituted indoles from unprotected 2-alkynylanilines using Pd(OAc)(2) catalyst in 3% TPGS-750-M water was found to be sensitive to the heating mode and the MW delivery mode, with convectional heating often proving more effective than microwave dielectric heating. Additionally, a tandem Sonogashira-cyclisation reaction was successfully achieved in the nanomicellar water environment with Pd(OAc)(2)/Xphos.

Summary: The electrocatalytic transformation of carbon dioxide has long been a topic of interest, with recent focus on it as an alternative strategy for CO2 reduction. Studies have increasingly looked at direct electron transfer and molecular transition metal complexes as catalysts. This can lead to the production of C-1 compounds as well as more complex transformations.

Summary: The pursuit of renewable production of storable fuels through electrocatalysis, particularly with water oxidation catalysis, remains a key focus in the scientific community. The coupling of these redox transformations to renewable energy sources presents a carbon neutral solution for long-term energy storage, yet challenges such as scalability still need to be addressed.

Summary: Borane-mediated hydride abstraction has been shown to be a powerful tool for the C(sp(3))-H functionalization of amines, but its activity with ethers is still unknown. In this study, we discovered this activity in 2H-chromenes and established a catalytic C(sp(3))-H functionalization reaction using silyl ketene acetals as nucleophiles.

Summary: Transition-metal-catalyzed hydride-transfer reactions play a crucial role in building a sustainable energy economy, with a focus on H-2 evolution and CO2 reduction/hydrogenation catalysis. Therefore, understanding the hydricity of transition-metal hydrides and its influencing factors is essential for designing efficient catalysts.

Summary: This article introduces the widespread exploration of intermolecular transition-metal catalyzed hydroarylation of allenes since the early 1980s. This reaction allows the selective access to high-value allylic or vinylic motifs through the formation of C-C bonds. The article also mentions the use of arenes, organoboronic derivatives, and aryl halides as aryl sources, as well as the use of gold, palladium, and other transition metals as catalysts.

Summary: This method presents a mild and efficient approach for synthesizing enantioenriched tetrahydroquinoline-fused cyclobutenes through a cascade reaction, catalyzed by chiral spiro-bicyclic bisboranes. The bisboranes function by catalyzing hydride transfer and activating the alkynone substrate for an enantioselective cycloaddition reaction.

Summary: This research presents an unprecedented Pd-catalyzed migration reaction of [60]fullerene with allyloxy-tethered aryl iodides for the synthesis of novel [60]fullerene-fused allylbenzofurans. The use of 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)benzene (DPPBz) as a ligand is crucial for the success of the transformation. The reaction exhibits high selectivity and flexibility, allowing allyl migration at different sites and providing a new and efficient approach to rare [60]fullerene-fused benzofurans. Control experiments suggest that the reaction most likely proceeds via a sequential C-O bond cleavage/allyl migration/intermolecular cycloaddition cascade process.

Summary: The mechanistic investigation into the origins of regio- and chemoselectivities observed in iron/pyridine dialdimine (PDAI)-catalyzed intermolecular [2+2+2] cycloaddition reactions of terminal alkynes and cyanamides reveals the significant role of the hemilabile PDAI ligand in controlling the observed selectivity of the resultant products.

Summary: Drug design and delivery is focused on finding new potent drug candidates and synthetic techniques. Recently, the synthesis of saturated heterocycles has gained significant attention in medicinal chemistry. Transition metal-catalyzed reactions have been the primary method for heterocyclic synthesis, but now they are being combined with other techniques to enhance their effectiveness. This review highlights the recent developments in the transition metal-catalyzed synthesis of five-membered saturated heterocycles.
