Summary: The study reported the synthesis of a dextran coated iron oxide nanoparticles thin layer on glass substrate. Various analytical techniques were used to analyze the surface morphology and chemical composition of the DIO-NPs thin layer. The results showed a continuous and homogeneous layer with the presence of Fe-CO metal carbonyl vibration bonds indicating the linkage between iron oxide nanoparticles and dextran. Furthermore, cytotoxicity assays demonstrated that the DIO-NPs layers did not exhibit toxic effects towards HepG2 cells.

Summary: Binary W-Zr thin-film alloys with different metastable structures were prepared using DC magnetron sputtering. The microstructure and properties of the films were found to be related to the individual metastable structures prepared. The hardness of the films varied with the elemental composition, with W-rich films showing enhanced hardness and reduced residual stress, while amorphous W-Zr films exhibited low surface roughness and metallic glass features.

Summary: In this article, a CrCoNbB thin film metallic glass (TFMG) was successfully fabricated by DC power magnetron sputtering, and its microstructure, surface properties, mechanical properties, and thermal stability were characterized. The TFMG showed high hardness, thermal stability, low surface roughness, friction, and surface energy compared to PVD Cr coating. Additionally, the TFMG exhibited low adhesion to molten LDPE.

Summary: Ternary CuZrTi metallic glass thin films synthesized by sputtering are suggested as highly flexible and corrosion-resistant encapsulation materials. The films retain amorphous structure and do not oxidize even after 1000 hours in a harsh environment. The encapsulation performance is maintained even after repeated bending, indicating potential applications.

Summary: The study found that the magnetron sputtered zirconium nitride thin films have homogeneous and dense surfaces with low roughness; increasing nitrogen partial pressure leads to a higher content of Zr3N4 in the films; ZrN0.4 exhibits the best corrosion resistance in Na2SO4 solution, attributed to lower density of pin-hole defects and a dense passive layer of ZrO2.

Summary: In this study, atomic disordered Cu50Zr50 metallic glass thin films with different structural heterogeneities were prepared by controlling the substrate temperature. Work-hardening behavior was observed in the films and the thermal history was found to affect the viscoelasticity. The activation volume of heterogeneity was linked to the correlation length of viscoelastic heterogeneity, providing insights into the relationship between structural heterogeneity and work hardening behavior.
