Summary: This study investigates the potential deleterious impacts of isoflavone exposure during adulthood on male reproductive health. The results from cross-sectional study, animal experiments, and in vitro tests suggest that urinary isoflavones are not significantly associated with semen quality, but negative associations were found between plasma testosterone and urinary isoflavones. Genistein, in particular, was found to inhibit testosterone production through upregulation of estrogen receptor alpha in Leydig cells of mice. The findings highlight the potential targets for male reproductive compromise induced by isoflavone exposure.

Summary: There is inconclusive evidence regarding the correlation between cadmium exposure and adverse male reproductive health outcomes, despite the abundance of epidemiological evidence and animal experiments. A literature search was conducted to analyze Cd levels in different biological materials and its correlation with semen parameters and sex hormones. The results showed that Cd was negatively correlated with semen parameters and positively correlated with sex hormones, with blood and urine showing significant correlations in both cases. This suggests that cadmium exposure may be associated with a decline in sperm quality and abnormal levels of sex hormones.

Summary: Reproductive issues are a growing global concern, and there is increasing interest in understanding the relationship between microbiota and reproductive health. Stable microbiota communities exist in various parts of the reproductive system, and dysbiosis can have detrimental effects on gamete quality, embryo development, and disease susceptibility. A healthy microbiota, on the other hand, can protect against pathogens, improve reproductive potential, and reduce adverse pregnancy outcomes. This review explores the effects and mechanisms of microbiota on reproduction, factors influencing microbiota composition, and potential applications in reproductive disorder treatment and detection.

Summary: Men with a solitary testis have higher serum follicle-stimulating hormone levels and a higher prevalence of compensated hypogonadism compared to men with bilateral testes, indicating a pituitary strain. Further followup is needed to assess potential detrimental consequences of this compensated state on testicular function.

Summary: Probiotics have been shown to have beneficial effects on weight loss and endogenous testosterone in male diet-induced obesity (DIO) models, with significantly improved sperm motility. Fermented milk supplementation may be an alternative treatment for preventing obesity and related metabolic syndromes.

Summary: Developmental programming can predispose offspring to metabolic, behavioral, and reproductive dysfunction in adult life, with evidence showing a connection between aging phenotype and longevity. Maternal nutrition during development can have effects on the male reproductive system's aging, impacting factors like hormone production, oxidative stress, and sperm quality. Understanding these developmental programming aging interactions can improve male health, longevity, and future generations' health.
