Summary: The abnormal localization of proteins in cells is closely related to the development of various diseases. Researchers have designed bifunctional compounds to regulate protein localization and transport. The results show potential applications of this method in cancer treatment and the ability to rewiring cell circuitry.

Summary: Biogenesis of the large ribosomal (60S) subunit requires the assembly of rRNAs and proteins, which is aided by ribosome biogenesis factors (RBFs). The methyltransferase Spb1 and the GTPase Nog2 are essential RBFs that play roles in 60S maturation. Unmethylated G2922 nucleotide leads to premature activation of Nog2 GTPase activity. This study provides insights into the regulation of 60S production through G2922 methylation levels and the recruitment of Nog2.

Summary: The ORF6 protein of SARS-CoV-2 plays a crucial role in antagonizing the host's innate immunity by disrupting nuclear import and inhibiting cellular mRNA export. It also regulates viral protein expression. Mutations in ORF6 affect its interactions with host components and impair immune evasion in certain variants.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the effect of YAP phosphorylation and nuclear translocation on the chondrocyte response to osteoarthritis (OA) relevant stimuli. Normal human articular chondrocytes were treated with various stimuli, and YAP function was assessed. The results showed that YAP nuclear translocation was regulated by phosphorylation in response to anabolic and catabolic stimuli. In OA cartilage, YAP immunostaining was increased but sequestered in the cytosol in areas with more severe damage.

Summary: Virus infections can cause organ damage through inflammation and oxidative stress. This study evaluated NRF2 activators as potential host-directed treatments for influenza virus infection. The compounds reduced viral replication, inflammation, and reactive oxygen species by interfering with the export of viral RNA/protein complexes, independent of the NRF2 signaling pathway.
