Four incompletely preserved caudal vertebrae lacking the neural arches of two fossil sirenian individuals of Halitherium schinzii (Oligocene) from the Rhine area in Germany and northern Belgium reveal osteological alterations. The caudal vertebrae possess a transverse process with growth retardation. This asymmetry indicates that the affected transverse processes are less developed than their counterparts and, consequently, deviate from the norm. Computed tomography (CT) scans reveal osteosclerotic patterns, a morphological feature that characterizes sea cows and supports the nonpathological state of the vertebrae. Additionally, no indications of vertebral fractures or any other occurrences due to external factors are present. This is the oldest documentation of such an anomaly in any sirenian and is interpreted here as hypoplasia, the underdevelopment of an organ or parts of it that might cause a functional deficiency. Summary: Metal-based gas diffusion electrodes are used in chlor-alkali electrolysis and electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide to achieve high current densities. The development of a modular cell design allows for monitoring oxygen reduction reaction and CO2 electrochemical reduction with minor modifications to the cell set-up. With this design, electrolyte distribution within the gas diffusion electrode can be observed in realistic conditions.

Inter-Reader Variability Using PI-RADS v2 Versus PI-RADS v2.1: Most New Disagreement Stems from Scores 1 and 2

Nick Lasse Beetz, Matthias Haas, Alexander Baur, Frank Konietschke, Akash Roy, Charlie Alexander Hamm, Madhuri Monique Rudolph, Seyd Shnayien, Bernd Hamm, Hannes Cash, Patrick Asbach, Tobias Penzkofer

Summary: This study analyzed the inter-reader variability in classifying prostate lesions using PI-RADS versions 2 and 2.1. The results showed that version 2.1 had better inter-reader agreement in the peripheral zone but poorer agreement in the transition zone. Combining scores 1 and 2 improved inter-reader agreement in both zones, suggesting a need for refined definitions for these PI-RADS scores.

Summary: This study evaluates the management and rate of clinically significant Prostate Cancer (csPCa) in patients with a Prostate Imaging-Reporting and Data System (PI-RADS) >= 4 lesion and a negative biopsy. The results suggest that men with a positive mpMRI and lesions with high suspicion should be considered for repeat biopsy or strict surveillance.

MRI-targeted biopsy cores from prostate index lesions: assessment and prediction of the number needed

Nick Lasse Beetz, Franziska Drager, Charlie Alexander Hamm, Seyd Shnayien, Madhuri Monique Rudolph, Konrad Frobose, Sefer Elezkurtaj, Matthias Haas, Patrick Asbach, Bernd Hamm, Samy Mahjoub, Frank Konietschke, Maximilian Wechsung, Felix Balzer, Hannes Cash, Sebastian Hofbauer, Tobias Penzkofer

Summary: This study aimed to analyze how many MRI-targeted biopsy cores are needed to establish the most relevant histopathologic diagnosis of the index lesion and to build a prediction model. The results showed that the most relevant histopathologic diagnosis of the index lesion could be made on the basis of three MRI-targeted biopsy cores in 97% of patients.

Quantitative analysis of cyclic aging of lithium-ion batteries using synchrotron tomography and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy

Alexander Ridder, Benedikt Prifling, Andre Hilger, Markus Osenberg, Matthias Weber, Ingo Manke, Kai Peter Birke, Volker Schmidt

Summary: In this paper, cyclically aged lithium-ion batteries are characterized by a statistical 3D microstructure analysis and electrochemical properties. Synchrotron tomography is used to capture the morphology of the cathodes with different state of health. The 3D microstructure is quantitatively characterized by phase-based and particle-based characteristics, and the electrochemical data is correlated with the detected structural changes. This is the most extensive data set of cyclically aged lithium-ion cells including both electrochemical data and 3D structures.

Systematic or targeted fusion-guided biopsy

Summary: This study aims to discuss the data on systematic and combined targeted and systematic multiparametric MRI (mpMRI) guided fusion biopsy to improve PCa diagnosis in clinically suspected cancer. The current evidence is insufficient to support performing a targeted fusion biopsy alone, so the combination of mpMRI-guided targeted and systematic biopsy continues to be the recommended standard for prostate cancer diagnosis.

Summary: MRE can be used to assess the viscoelastic properties of healthy and CD-affected ileum. The results showed that the penetration rate was lower, and the damping ratio and viscosity parameter were higher in CD-affected tissue compared to healthy tissue. Summary: The role of ECM composition and turnover in mechano-signaling and cell fate can be studied using non-invasive imaging and biotechnological analysis methods. This study proposes a compact MRE method to quantify the viscoelastic properties of decellularized pancreatic tissues, which can be used to assess the efficiency and quality of decellularization protocols. The results indicate that viscoelasticity parameters depend on the solid fraction of the decellularized matrix, providing sensitive markers of tissue integrity.
