Summary: TNFAIP6 plays an important role in the prognosis of gastric cancer patients, with higher expression levels associated with tumor invasion depth, lymph node metastasis, TNM stage, and poorer overall survival. Knockdown of TNFAIP6 inhibited proliferation, invasion, and metastasis of gastric cancer cells in vitro.

Summary: Lymphovascular invasion (LVI) and perineural invasion (PNI) are associated with poorer prognosis in gastric cancer (GC). This study aimed to investigate their prognostic value in curative resected GC patients. The incidence of LVI/PNI was significantly higher in GC patients compared to colorectal cancer patients (50.54% vs. 21.91%, p < 0.001). LVI/PNI was closely associated with disease progression and served as an independent risk factor for lymph node metastasis and overall survival in GC.

Summary: Through microarray analyses, the expression profiles of long non-coding RNAs and mRNAs associated with early and local advanced gastric cancer were examined. GO and KEGG analyses revealed dysregulated pathways and processes in gastric cancer, including RNA transport, ECM-receptor interaction, and mRNA splicing pathways. Key transcriptional regulators and an oncogene, thrombospondin-2, were identified and their roles in gastric cancer progression were suggested based on the findings.

Summary: The MET receptor and its ligand Hepatocyte Growth Factor (HGF) play important roles in cell proliferation, survival, motility, and invasion. The HGF/MET axis regulates both cell-autonomous and non-cell-autonomous functions in cancer cell dissemination. Knocking out the MET gene in cancer cells allowed for the evaluation of the role of the HGF/MET axis in cell-autonomous functions independently of its effect on tumor microenvironment cells. The results suggest a crucial contribution of the HGF/MET axis in driving the metastatic process.

Summary: This study assessed the clinical significance and molecular mechanisms of CDH genes in gastric cancer, identifying CDH2, CDH6, CDH7, and CDH10 as significantly associated with poor prognosis in GC. A prognostic signature based on CDH2 and CDH6 genes was constructed, and their potential functional mechanisms and drug interactions were explored.

Summary: Abnormal methylation of 5-methylcytosine (m5C) is closely related to gastric carcinogenesis, progression, and prognosis. Dysregulated long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) play a role in various biological processes in cancer. However, the research on m5C-methylated lncRNAs in gastric cancer (GC) is limited. In this study, NSUN2 was found to be upregulated in GC and correlated with poor prognosis. NR_033928 was identified as an NSUN2-methylated and upregulated lncRNA in GC. Functionally, NR_033928 interacted with IGF2BP3/HUR complex to promote GLS mRNA stability and upregulate GLS expression. The increased glutamine metabolite α-KG enhanced NR_033928 expression by promoting its promoter 5-hydroxymethylcytosine (hm5C) demethylation. Overall, NSUN2-methylated NR_033928 promotes GC progression and may serve as a potential prognostic and therapeutic target for GC.

Summary: BAG4 has been found to be overexpressed in gastric cancer tissues compared to normal tissues, and its elevated expression is associated with advanced tumor characteristics and poor patient outcomes. Mechanistically, BAG4 promotes invasion and metastasis of gastric cancer cells by activating the PI3K/AKT/NF-kappa B/ZEB1 axis to induce epithelial-mesenchymal transition.

Summary: In this study, it was found that the long non-coding RNA PDHB-AS is down-regulated in cervical cancer cells. Overexpression of PDHB-AS can suppress malignant behaviors of cervical cancer cells. PDHB-AS functions as a tumor suppressor by inhibiting the Wnt/β-catenin pathway, and it also interacts with other molecules such as miR-4536-5p, miR-582-5p, and DKK1 to regulate cisplatin resistance and tumor growth in cervical cancer. These findings suggest the therapeutic potential of PDHB-AS as a target for cervical cancer treatment.
