Summary: The study demonstrated that the use of aspirin alone or in combination with statins is strongly associated with a reduced risk of gallbladder cancer (GBC). Further prospective studies are needed to confirm these results and elucidate their mechanisms.

Summary: This study revealed an association between the use of aspirin and immune-related adverse events (irAEs) in cancer patients receiving immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) therapy, emphasizing the importance of considering patients' medication history individually when devising cancer treatment plans to enhance efficacy and reduce risks.

Summary: Through an investigation of a large nationwide database, we found no association between statin use and adrenal insufficiency. The risk, if any, seems to be very limited and does not compromise the benefit of statin treatment.

Summary: This study found that the use of statins is associated with a lower risk of colorectal cancer (CRC) in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). The risk reduction is more significant in patients who use statins for a longer duration. Additionally, statin users also have a decreased risk of CRC-related mortality and all-cause mortality.

Summary: This study evaluated the association between long-term statin use and diagnosis and mortality of esophageal cancer in a Korean population. The results showed no significant relationship between the duration of statin use and the occurrence or mortality of esophageal cancer in the overall study population.

Summary: In this study, the researchers used the FDA adverse-event reporting system (FAERS) database to investigate risk factors for drug-induced hiccups and explore the relationship between hiccups and gender. They analyzed over 11 million adverse drug reactions and found nicotine products to be a key suspect drug for both men and women. They also identified other risk factors and provided new insights into the mechanism of drug-induced hiccups, particularly in relation to gender.

Summary: Statins have been found to reduce the risk of gastric cancer recurrence in H. pylori-negative patients who underwent endoscopic resection for early gastric cancer. There is a dose-response relationship between statin use and the risk of metachronous gastric cancer.

Summary: Depression diagnoses have increased significantly, leading to the widespread use of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) as a treatment. However, studies have shown that long-term SSRI use can raise the risk of cardiovascular problems, yet there has been no systematic evaluation of this drug class. To address this, we evaluated the association between the six most commonly prescribed SSRIs and cardiovascular adverse events. Using data from the FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) from Q1 2004 to Q2 2022, we conducted an analysis and found a significant association between SSRIs and adverse events such as arrhythmias, QT prolongation, cardiomyopathy, and hypertension, with higher incidence in middle-aged and elderly patients and women. Our findings emphasize the importance of increased cardiac monitoring for patients on SSRIs.

Summary: Studies have shown that the use of statins may be beneficial in treating patients with TB infections, as statins can inhibit cholesterol synthesis, affecting the infection and survival of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Future research may focus on exploring the effects of different statins.

Summary: The study found that statin use is associated with a lower risk of pneumonia in patients with Parkinson's disease. Statins may affect pneumonia occurrence by lowering cholesterol levels or slowing the progression of PD as neuroprotective agents. Further clinical studies are needed to clarify these findings and underlying biological mechanisms.
