Summary: This study aimed to determine the feasibility of evaluating superior vena cava (SVC) flow from the subcostal window for estimating right atrial pressure (RAP). The study found differences in SVC flow characteristics between the subcostal and supraclavicular approaches, and the subcostal SVC peak systolic to diastolic forward flow ratio (SVC-S/D) was inversely correlated with RAP and showed diagnostic ability for elevated RAP.

Summary: The study investigated the feasibility of using transthoracic echocardiography for diagnosing D-PAH in CML patients. Results showed a gradual increase in RVSP during dasatinib therapy, with some patients developing symptomatic D-PAH and requiring treatment switch.

Summary: This study found that right ventricular strain acquired from the subcostal view can be a reliable alternative to conventionally derived strain in critical care. It is moderately correlated with other echocardiography parameters and associated with venovenous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation. It may have a role in predicting survival rates in critically ill patients.

Summary: Normalized TAPSE can reflect right ventricular systolic dysfunction in dogs with severe PH, which cannot be detected by nonnormalized TAPSE. The TAPSE(B-mode)/RVIDd ratio might predict R-CHF with high sensitivity and reproducibility.

Summary: This study aimed to analyze whether the echocardiography-derived right ventricular free wall longitudinal strain/pulmonary artery systolic pressures (RVFWLS/PASP) ratio can improve risk stratification in patients with severe tricuspid regurgitation (TR). The results showed that RVFWLS/PASP was associated with baseline clinical RV heart failure and independently correlated with all-cause mortality. Patients with RVFWLS/PASP >0.26%/mmHg showed higher survival rates.

Summary: This study evaluated the utility of real-time three-dimensional echocardiography (RT3DE) in assessing right ventricular morphology and function, finding strong agreement between RT3DE and catheterization-derived RV volume changes and suggesting that RT3DE could be useful in estimating RV-pulmonary arterial coupling.

Summary: This study evaluated the diagnostic performance of a novel measurement of right ventricular systolic function called LASER and found that it has a moderate positive correlation with RVEF derived by CMR. LASER outperformed conventional echocardiographic parameters in detecting RV systolic dysfunction, while being simple to obtain and less dependent on image quality.

Summary: Prospective ECG-gated cardiac computed tomography angiography (CTA) is commonly used in pediatric patients with congenital heart disease (CHD) due to lower radiation dose compared to ECG-gated technique. This study investigated the potential of diastolic and systolic right ventricular diameters (RVD) on prospective ECG-gated cardiac CTA to predict pulmonary hypertension (PH) in children with CHD. Measurements of BSA-modified D-RVD of 6.86 or BSA-modified S-RVD of 5.87 may be non-invasive markers to identify PH in children with CHD.

Summary: In patients with left-sided heart disease, there is significant remodeling of the RV associated with preservation of the RVEF in patients with mild or moderate LV dysfunction. For patients with normal RVEF, the measurement of the anteroposterior component of RV motion provided independent prognostic value.

Summary: This meta-analysis aimed to determine the mean and LLN of two- and three-dimensional right ventricular strain measurements in healthy individuals, and factors associated with strain measurements. The study found that important factors affecting RV systolic strains include right ventricular fractional area change and vendor software.

Summary: This study aimed to measure the kinetic energy of blood in the right ventricular outflow tract (KE-RVOT) and assess its relationship with other echocardiographic and hemodynamic parameters in heart failure patients undergoing left ventricular assist device (LVAD) implantation. The results showed that KE-RVOT was strongly correlated with echocardiographic parameters but not with hemodynamic parameters. Further research suggested that KE-RVOT may be useful in predicting right ventricular failure post LVAD implantation.

Summary: This study evaluated the utility of right atrial reservoir strain (RASr) in identifying elevated right atrial pressure (RAP) in heart failure patients, finding that RASr demonstrated good ability to identify elevated RAP and showed relatively stronger diagnostic performance compared to conventional non-invasive measures. RASr may be useful as a novel non-invasive estimate of RAP in heart failure management.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of mechanical ventilation on cardiac function in patients with neuromuscular disorders. The results show that during ventilation setting modifications or introduction, it is crucial to focus on the systolic and diastolic functions of the right and left ventricles. These findings provide important information for the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
