Summary: The study revealed a high prevalence of acute malnutrition among preschool children, with modifiable factors such as children's age, mothers' early childbearing age, poor family conditions, living in unhygienic environments, and certain religious beliefs associated with acute malnutrition. Therefore, social mobilization and food security interventions could be effective strategies to prevent acute malnutrition among children in Bangladesh.

Summary: The COVID-19 pandemic has negatively impacted global mental health, potentially reshaping public beliefs about certain mental illnesses. Research suggests that highlighting the onset of anxiety symptoms during the pandemic may lead people to attribute symptoms to non-biological causes and anticipate a shorter duration, while beliefs about depression were not affected by the COVID-19 background.

Summary: This study compared the ability of the Mini Nutritional Assessment-Short Form (MNA-SF) and the Mini Nutritional Assessment-Long Form (MNA-LF) to predict mortality in geriatric outpatients. It found that MNA-SF can effectively predict short-term and long-term mortality in these patients. Therefore, screening all geriatric outpatients for malnutrition and especially the risk of malnutrition is crucial for early intervention and treatment.

Summary: It is challenging to identify the etiologies of acute febrile illnesses (AFI) due to non-specific clinical presentation and limited diagnostic facilities. Bangladesh's hot and humid climate is conducive to vector-borne viral infections such as Dengue, Chikungunya, and Zika. An outbreak of febrile illness occurred in Dhaka city, Bangladesh in 2017. The Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) conducted an investigation to determine the etiology of this illness. Among the 1632 patients tested, 66% were positive for Chikungunya, 7% for Dengue, and 0.4% were co-infected with both pathogens. The re-emergence of DEN-3 in circulation was observed among the Dengue virus positive samples. Continuous surveillance is necessary to prevent and control arboviral diseases in Bangladesh.

Summary: This study aimed to examine the effect of a short-term intervention promoting complementary feeding practices on the nutritional status of infants in rural Bangladesh. The results showed that the intervention group had significantly higher scores in complementary feeding index (CFI), as well as more normal height and weight for age compared to the comparison group. Therefore, guided nutritional intervention and the development of CFI were effective in improving the nutritional status of infants.
