Summary: This study examined the duration of the latent phase of labor and its association with labor processes and birth outcomes. The results showed that the duration of the latent phase of labor was longer for nulliparous women compared to multiparous women, and it was associated with dystocia diagnoses, interventions, and adverse neonatal outcomes. Further research is needed to understand the underlying mechanisms between the duration of the latent phase of labor and neonatal morbidity.

Summary: This study examined the relationship between the duration of the second stage of labor in twin pregnancies and adverse maternal and neonatal outcomes. The results suggest that a prolonged second stage of labor may increase the risk of adverse maternal outcomes, especially in nulliparous women. Further large-scale studies are needed to confirm these findings.

Summary: Drought causes significant damage to soybean crops, and Europe's demand for soybean is growing while its own production is insufficient. Therefore, the selection and breeding of soybean cultivars adapted to European growth conditions is urgently needed.

Summary: Twin labors show longer duration of active phase, slower cervical dilation progression, and prolonged second stage compared to singleton labors. Epidural analgesia further slows down labor progression in twin deliveries.

Summary: The study finds that job seekers' beliefs have strong predictive power for job finding, but are not adjusted downward and exhibit optimistic bias, especially for long-term unemployed individuals. Dynamic selection explains the observed negative duration dependence in job finding, as job seekers' beliefs underreact to heterogeneity in job finding.

Summary: The study found that labor duration is an independent factor for uterine rupture among women attempting vaginal delivery after cesarean section. Medical induction and labor augmentation increase the risk, regardless of maternal and birth characteristics.

Summary: In Japan, the criteria for the latent and active phases of the first stage of labor have not been determined. A study was conducted to construct a spontaneous labor curve, showing that labor progress is slow until 5 cm cervical dilation, accelerates between 5 and 6 cm, and steadily progresses after 6 cm dilation. The active phase of labor is proposed to start at 5 cm dilation of the cervix, divided into an acceleration phase (5-6 cm dilation) and a maximal phase (>6 cm dilation).

Summary: During the last millennium BCE, central places were founded across western Mesoamerica. These early central places varied in location, size, layout, and the nature of their public spaces and architecture. Comparative analysis shows that early investments in infrastructure, economic interdependence, collaboration between domestic units, and collective governance contribute to the sustainability of these regional centers.

Summary: This paper reviews the current status of flow duration curve (FDC) studies, categorizing them into two groups: studies developing prediction tools for specific regions and hydro-climates, and studies improving process understanding across large spatio-temporal scales. Future research directions include developing a general framework for process-based modeling of FDC in order to achieve consistent success on a global scale.

Summary: This study identified limitations of eco-flows based on FDCs and redefined ES and ED using DH, finding that DHs performed better in assessing eco-flows. The results demonstrated that the new method using DHs can provide a more accurate assessment of river health.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the association between duration of intrapartum oxytocin exposure and obstetric blood loss, as well as hemorrhage-related maternal morbidity. The results showed that oxytocin exposure exceeding 12 hours was associated with an increased risk of postpartum hemorrhage and increased blood loss, especially in vaginal deliveries. For cesarean deliveries, the duration of oxytocin exposure did not have a significant correlation with the risk of postpartum hemorrhage.

Summary: In the last three decades, the classical backward bending of the labor supply curve has been extended to the case of the inverted S-shaped labor supply curve. According to this extension, at very low net wage levels near the subsistence income level, the positive shape of the labor supply curve may also be curved backward and become negatively sloped. This S-shaped curve leads to a double-peaked Laffer curve, which includes the possibility of three tax rates that can collect the same tax revenue. This is in contrast to the traditional single-peaked Laffer curve, which has two tax rates with the same revenues.

Summary: This study aimed to describe labor duration in a French national population-based cohort and assess the impact of age and BMI on this duration. The results showed little association between maternal characteristics and labor duration, except for a relationship between BMI and labor duration in nulliparous women.

Summary: In recent years, the weak relationship between wage growth and the unemployment gap, known as the wage Phillips curve, has puzzled researchers. Two possible explanations were considered, a new measure for labor market slack was proposed, and estimates for the wage Phillips curve in the five biggest euro area countries indicate changes over time.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the impact of common asthma medication regimens on asthma symptoms, exacerbations, lung function, and inflammation during pregnancy. The results showed that pregnant women who used SABA + ICS and SABA + ICS + LABA had better lung function in the first trimester. The SABA + ICS + LABA group also experienced improvements in lung function and inflammation throughout pregnancy. However, both the SABA + ICS and SABA + ICS + LABA groups had a higher risk of severe exacerbation during early to mid-pregnancy.

Summary: Customized fetal growth charts assume normality and constant coefficient of variation assumptions, but these assumptions have never been formally tested. By analyzing longitudinal sonographic biometric data, we found that the assumptions of proportionality and normal distribution may be questionable. A heteroscedastic model that captures unstable variance in customization characteristics appears to improve the detection of abnormal growth percentiles.

Summary: This study investigates the growth patterns of twins and whether they exhibit signs of excess growth similar to singletons born small-for-gestational age (SGA), which may increase future cardiometabolic risk. The results show that although twins have lower height, weight, and BMI z-scores at birth and in early childhood, these differences diminish by 7-9 years of age, with no evidence of pathological growth or increased risk of overweight/obesity in any group of twins.
