Summary: Curcumin and demethoxycurcumin demonstrated antiangiogenic activity via the inhibition of endoglin/Smad1 signaling. Combination treatment with curcuminoids and semaxanib is expected to reverse semaxanib resistance.

Summary: Preeclampsia is a severe complication of pregnancy, and soluble endoglin and sFlt-1 play important roles in its pathogenesis. Procyanidin B2 can reduce the secretion of soluble endoglin and sFlt-1, alleviating endothelial dysfunction and impaired angiogenesis.

Summary: In this study, it was found that antiphospholipid antibodies (aPL) can induce preeclampsia by influencing placental trophoblast function and endangering the fetus. The results suggest that aPL affect preeclampsia by altering gene expression related to preeclampsia through the regulation of PP2A protein phosphatase activity. Overall, the findings indicate that the impact of aPL on trophoblast cells is crucial for the development of preeclampsia, involving modulation of various signaling pathways.

Summary: This study tested the link between altered PlGF and sFLT-1 levels, and their ratio with PE and PE-associated features, and found that increased sFlt-1 levels and sFlt-1/PlGF ratio are independent risk factors for PE.

Summary: In women with gestational hypertension, imbalance of angiogenic factors is associated with adverse maternal and perinatal outcomes as well as progression to preeclampsia. Circulating concentrations of sEng and the soluble fms-like tyrosine kinase-1/placental growth factor ratio can be used as suitable markers to assess the risk of adverse outcomes.

Summary: Preterm birth is a leading cause of death in children under five. Sequential disruptions to inflammatory and angiogenic pathways during pregnancy increase the risk of placental insufficiency and preterm labor. Study findings suggest a potential causal link between early inflammation, subsequent angiogenic dysregulation, and preterm birth, highlighting the importance of interventions before 24 weeks gestation.

Summary: Preeclampsia is a dangerous disorder for pregnant women and neonates that requires specific and reliable biomarkers for early prediction. The imbalance of angiogenic factors contributes to the pathophysiology. Applying a multivariable model from the start of pregnancy throughout gestation is essential for early and specific prediction of preeclampsia.

Summary: This study investigated the therapeutic effects of axitinib, a tyrosine kinase inhibitor, in an interstitial cystitis (IC) rat model. The results showed that axitinib improved pain, bladder function, and urothelial integrity in the IC rat model, suggesting its potential therapeutic efficacy in IC patients.

Summary: This retrospective real-world study investigated the clinical utility of sFlt-1/PlGF ratio in predicting adverse outcomes in patients with signs and symptoms of preeclampsia. The study found that patients classified as high or intermediate risk based on the ratio were more likely to have adverse outcomes, and combining biomarker measurements with all available clinical information improved detection of adverse outcomes in women with suspected disease.

Summary: The study found that oxytocin (OT) and cabergoline were effective in alleviating ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) by suppressing VEGF and VP. Both OT and cabergoline reduced body weight, ovary weight, and VP, as well as decreased VEGF expressions in ovaries and peritoneal VEGF levels in the animal model of OHSS.

Summary: A hormone-sensitive signaling pathway in ovarian cells has been identified as a potential target for better treatment of infertility-associated complications. The study found a strong connection between the exposure to human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) and the expression of a signaling protein associated with blood vessels in ovarian cells, offering new insights into the prevention and management of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS).

Summary: In this study, pregnant women with AFLP had significantly higher sFlt-1 levels compared to those with HELLP syndrome. PlGF levels were also higher in AFLP patients. The sFlt-1 cutoff value of 31,100 pg/mL showed a sensitivity and specificity of 100% in distinguishing between AFLP and HELLP syndrome.
