Summary: The study aimed to investigate the alcohol consumption status among breast cancer patients and explore the impact of interventions on alcohol intake. It was found that most breast cancer patients practiced safe alcohol consumption, but there were factors associated with increased intake. The intervention resulted in a decrease in alcohol consumption among participants at week 12, but no sustained difference was observed at week 24.

Summary: Long-term growth hormone treatment affects the carbohydrate metabolism parameters in girls with Turner syndrome. Blood glucose levels significantly increase in the first five years of therapy, but decrease during treatment. Insulin resistance and carbohydrate metabolism impairment are more prominent during growth hormone therapy.

Summary: This observational study aimed to assess the short-term and long-term effects of inpatient rehabilitation within 6 months after hospitalization on mortality, nursing care dependency, health care use, and costs in sepsis survivors. The results showed that there was no significant difference in short-term survival between patients with and without rehabilitation, but long-term survival rates were higher in the rehabilitation group. Survivors with rehabilitation had a higher number of hospital readmissions and were more frequently dependent on nursing care compared to those without rehabilitation.

Summary: The changing landscape of gynaecological and breast cancers has led to more targeted and effective therapies, improving survival rates. However, the hormonal nature of these cancers complicates the management of menopausal symptoms. There is a lack of high-quality research examining the safety of menopausal hormone therapy after female cancers, highlighting the need for more comprehensive care.

Summary: The study found that while most survivors found SCP useful, they did not share them with other healthcare providers, raising questions about their effectiveness in coordinating care. Additionally, there were challenges with SCP delivery. Survivors reported compliance with SCP lifestyle recommendations. Further research is needed to assess the utility of SCP among other stakeholders such as general practitioners.

Summary: The study found that unilateral and bilateral oophorectomy is associated with a reduced breast cancer rate in women from the general population, and this association is not modified by use of HRT, hysterectomy, BMI, or shift work.

Summary: Growth hormone deficiency (GHD) is a common complication in cancer survivors and pituitary tumor patients. Growth hormone replacement therapy (GHT) has proven benefits without increasing the risk of second neoplasms or mortality. However, concerns about the safety of GHT still exist due to the properties of growth hormone. Careful risk/benefit analysis and open discussion with patients and their families are necessary before considering GHT.

Summary: This study aimed to examine the associations between follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), LH/FSH ratio, and the risk and severity score of metabolic syndrome (MetS) in US women. The results showed that elevated levels of serum FSH and LH were associated with a lower risk of MetS, especially in postmenopausal women. However, the LH/FSH ratio had no significant connections with the risk and severity score of MetS.

Summary: The current nutritional guidelines for stomach cancer survivors mainly focus on the influence of surgery, but do not provide sufficient guidance on a wider range of food options. This study aimed to investigate factors associated with healthier dietary changes in Korean adult stomach cancer survivors. The study found that approximately 60% of participants reported dietary changes in a healthier direction for three or more food categories, while 9.1% reported no changes. The study also found that factors such as age, education, income, and psychological characteristics were associated with the dietary pattern changes.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the associations between menopause, postmenopausal hormone therapy, and metabolic syndrome in Asian women. The results showed that postmenopausal women had a higher prevalence of metabolic syndrome, and postmenopausal hormone therapy was associated with a lower risk of metabolic syndrome in women with natural menopause.

Summary: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common endocrine disorder that affects a significant number of fertile-aged women and is associated with infertility, hyperandrogenism, and characteristic ovarian morphology. This study aimed to investigate the influence of vitamin D on metabolic syndrome and hormonal balance in PCOS patients. The majority of PCOS patients had deficient or suboptimal vitamin D levels, and the effects of vitamin D on SHBG levels and free-androgen indices were examined. Additionally, vitamin D was found to impact the incidence of metabolic syndrome and various anthropometric measurements in PCOS patients.

Summary: The study showed that high LAT1 status in breast cancer patients is associated with tumor progression, particularly in those receiving neoadjuvant hormone therapy, and LAT1 expression is upregulated in estrogen deprivation-resistant breast carcinoma cell lines. A selective LAT1 inhibitor, JPH203, demonstrated inhibitory effects on cell proliferation in resistant cell lines, suggesting LAT1 could be a potential therapeutic target.
