Novel hub genes associated with pulmonary artery remodeling in pulmonary hypertension

Summary: In this study, we identified novel common hub genes involved in pulmonary artery remodeling in different PH groups through the analysis of gene expression data. We verified the top 10 candidate genes through animal model validation. This study provides new target genes for further research on the mechanisms and treatment of PH.

Clinical features of pulmonary arterial hypertension associated with systemic sclerosis

Summary: Systemic sclerosis is an autoimmune disorder that affects the connective tissue and causes skin thickening and complications in the internal organs. Pulmonary involvement, including pulmonary arterial hypertension and interstitial lung disease, is the main cause of morbidity and mortality in scleroderma patients. Current treatment options are not specific to pulmonary involvement in scleroderma, and patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension in this population tend to have worse outcomes and lower response to therapy compared to other forms of Group I pulmonary hypertension.

Summary: This study evaluated the performance of pulmonary hypertension (PH) biomarkers in children with Down syndrome. The results showed that NT-proBNP and galectin-3 were the best markers for distinguishing PH, resolved PH, and no PH. Additionally, the biomarker performance in children with Down syndrome may differ from other populations.

Summary: HUPRA syndrome is a rare mitochondrial disease characterized by hyperuricemia, pulmonary hypertension, renal failure, and alkalosis. Variants in the SARS2 gene are believed to cause this syndrome, resulting in impaired mitochondrial protein biosynthesis. This study identified novel compound heterozygous variants of SARS2 and provided further understanding of HUPRA syndrome.

Summary: People living with HIV and receiving antiretroviral therapy have improved lifespans. However, persistent viral replication in the lungs can cause chronic inflammation and lead to life-threatening Pulmonary Hypertension (PH). The study of HIV-PH is limited due to a lack of suitable animal models. This study combined HIV with SU5416 or hypoxia in mice with humanized immune systems and found that this combination accurately recapitulates PH, providing a well-suited model for infectious mechanistic pulmonary vascular research in small animals.

Evaluation of the Breastfeeding Dynamics of Neonates with Ankyloglossia via a Novel Ultrasonographic Technique

A Novel Doppler TRPG/AcT Index Improves Echocardiographic Diagnosis of Pulmonary Hypertension after Pulmonary Embolism

Summary: This study suggests that a Doppler index, TRPG/AcT, improves the assessment of symptomatic pulmonary embolism (PE) survivors. TRPG/AcT > 0.6 indicates a high probability of chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) or chronic thromboembolic pulmonary disease (CTED), while TRPG/AcT < 0.6 allows for the safe exclusion of CTEPH + CTED in patients with a low echocardiographic probability of pulmonary hypertension (PH).

Chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension in patients with antiphospholipid syndrome: Risk factors and management

Summary: Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) may cause chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH). This study found that primary APS, prior pulmonary embolism, recurrent venous thromboembolism, thrombocytopenia, and specific anti-phospholipid antibodies are associated with CTEPH in APS patients. Additionally, the prevalence of CTEPH is relatively high among APS patients, and pulmonary endarterectomy is an effective and relatively safe treatment option.

Paediatric lichen sclerosus et atrophicus: A retrospective analysis of 38 paediatric patients

Hydroxychloroquine treatment for Alopecia Universalis: Report of six cases
