Summary: The meta-analysis of 55 eligible studies found that maternal environmental exposure to pesticides during pregnancy is associated with increased risk of childhood leukemia, especially acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Higher risks were observed for specific subtypes of pesticides like herbicides and insecticides. The evidence suggests a stronger association with leukemia for maternal exposure during pregnancy compared to childhood exposure.

Summary: Proteomics has been more valuable in model organisms with genome sequence annotations than in nonmodel organisms lacking such annotations. This study aimed to establish a protein sequence set for the nonmodel organism chia using RNA-Seq experiments. The results showed that assembling RNA-Seq datasets for chia resulted in high completeness of transcript sequences, though the number of sequences and genes varied. After six-frame translation, orthologs were detected among other species within the same taxonomic order.

Summary: This study aimed to pool the incidence and mortality statistics of childhood Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) in Indonesia. The findings suggest a high incidence rate of childhood ALL, especially among males, indicating a need for strengthened monitoring and intervention measures for childhood ALL.

Summary: This systematic review and meta-analysis suggests that the 5-year OS rate for DN-SCC may approach 54.5% and recurrence rate approaches 42.7%. Various tumor characteristics including advanced T stage, positive nodal status, maxillary sinus origin, and negative HPV status are all associated with decreased survival.

Summary: We present a metal- and additive-free method for synthesizing meta-substituted anilines using commercially available or one-step accessible substituted methylvinyl ketones, N-acylpyridinium salts, and primary/secondary alkyl- and arylamines. This method enables the synthesis of anilines with uncommon substitution patterns and has potential applications in medicinal chemistry and materials science.

Summary: The study found that drug-coated balloons (DCB) may provide a promising treatment option for de novo non-small coronary artery disease compared with stents, showing no significant differences in outcomes such as cardiac death, myocardial infarction, and target lesion revascularization. However, DCB group had smaller minimal lumen diameter compared to the stent group. More randomized controlled trials are needed to further confirm the benefits of DCB strategy.

Summary: The meta-analysis of numerous studies found no significant association between maternal antibiotic intake during pregnancy and childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) risk. The consistent findings across subgroups suggest the need for further investigations to confirm the results and assess any risk differences of ALL by types of antibiotics.

Summary: This study conducted a meta-analysis to investigate the association between ADGRL3 gene variants and ADHD susceptibility in children and adults, finding significant correlation in children but not in adults. The results suggest that ADGRL3 gene is predominantly associated with childhood ADHD.

Summary: Liquid biopsy, particularly the analysis of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA), shows potential clinical utility for disease monitoring and genomic profiling in small cell lung cancer (SCLC), while the use of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) is hindered by data heterogeneity, lack of agreed cut-offs, and cost considerations. Further studies are needed to explore the full clinical roles of liquid biopsy in SCLC management, both in de novo and transformed cases.

Summary: Patients receiving solid organ transplantation and immunosuppressive therapy have a significantly increased risk of developing carcinomas, with the highest likelihood found in those receiving cyclosporine and azathioprine. Understanding the pathways involved in immunosuppression and carcinoma development may provide new insights for future research in both transplantation patients and the general population.

Summary: In this study, we investigated the real-world experience of sorafenib in treating advanced DTC patients in Taiwan. Most patients started with a dose of 200 mg twice daily and had a mean daily maintenance dose of 433 mg. The most common toxicity of sorafenib was hand foot skin reaction (69%), followed by diarrhea (42%), and skin rash (33%).

Summary: Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor (pNET) is a type of pancreatic tumor with neuroendocrine differentiation. Early stage pNET can be treated with surgical resection for long-term survival, while pNET with metastasis has a poor prognosis. In this study, it was found that c-Myc overexpression is associated with lymph node metastasis in pNET xenograft mice. Combination therapy using an mTOR inhibitor and c-Myc inhibitor or VEGFC-neutralizing protein reduced lymph node metastasis in mice with c-Myc overexpression, indicating potential therapeutic targets for pNET.

Summary: This study found a positive association between seropositivity to HPV16 E7 and oropharyngeal cancer (OPC) risk, particularly among nonbetel quid or noncigarette users. Seropositivity to HPV16 E7 also showed moderate agreement with P16 expression in OPC, suggesting that HPV may be an important risk factor for OPC in Taiwan.

Summary: The study in Taiwan found no significant association between alcohol consumption and pancreatic cancer risk, even at high levels of drinking. There was also no significant association between alcohol use and pancreatic cancer among individuals genetically susceptible to the carcinogenic effect of alcohol.
