Summary: This paper explores the correspondence between least-square estimation in a reproducing kernel Hilbert space and different M-estimators in the original space, as well as the application of new robust kernels associated with various types of M-estimators in clustering tasks. The results show that some robust kernels perform as well as state-of-the-art robust clustering methods.

Summary: The study proposes an improvement to the PWD algorithm by introducing a nonstationary triangle smoothing operator, which adaptively constrains the solution based on local signal reliability, enhancing the robustness of slope estimation. The traditional PWD algorithm struggles to balance smoothness and resolution, making this refinement essential to mitigate its limitations.

Summary: This article presents a general construction of locally robust/orthogonal moment functions for GMM, which are not affected by the first steps locally. The use of these orthogonal moments can reduce model selection and regularization bias, and the associated standard errors are robust to misspecification when the number of moment functions is the same as the number of parameters of interest.

Summary: In this paper, a twisting observer is proposed for robustly estimating the states of a second-order uncertain system. The observer approximates the unknown sign term for the non-measurable state with a delayed output-based switching function, and achieves the desired steady-state accuracy by controlling the delay parameter. The application of the observer to output feedback stabilization is also discussed.

Summary: In this study, the statistical estimation of super-hedging prices using historical stock returns in frictionless market with d traded assets is considered. A plug-in estimator based on empirical measures is introduced, which is shown to be consistent but lacks robustness. To address this issue, novel estimators are proposed that use a larger set of martingale measures defined through a tradeoff between the radius of Wasserstein balls around the empirical measure and the allowed norm of martingale densities.

Summary: This article proposes a distributionally robust particle filtering framework for the modeling of nonlinear systems, which provides a solution to uncertainties and improves the performance of state estimators. The framework uses worst-case distributions to generate and evaluate prior state particles, quantifies the worst-case scenario using entropy, and utilizes statistical similarity measures to define the radii of the maximum entropy distributions. The study proves the robustness of Gaussian approximation filters and demonstrates the framework's capability in dealing with non-additive and non-multiplicative measurement noises. The article also discusses measurement outlier treatment strategies within the framework.

Summary: Impulse-radio ultra-wideband (IR-UWB) radar devices are capable of monitoring vital signs, such as respiratory and cardiac rates, by analyzing the phase of echo signals. However, interference caused by factors like body movement can pose challenges in accurately estimating cardiac rates. This study proposes a new framework with four steps to address this issue and achieve accurate and robust real-time cardiac rate estimation, even in the presence of body movement.

Summary: This article proposes a robust heading estimation algorithm for smartphones, which integrates the gradient descent (GD) approach and genetic algorithm (GA) to compute the heading angle of smartphones and reduce the heading error accumulation induced by the errors of sensors. The algorithm utilizes the accelerometer, magnetometer, and gyroscope to estimate the heading angle, and employs a fitness function based on the squared triaxial errors of geomagnetic strength and acceleration to enhance accuracy and suppress error accumulation. The gyroscope's angular velocity is used to initialize the genetic algorithm, and a search area adjustment strategy based on gradient descent is devised to improve convergence rate and local search capability. Experimental results demonstrate that the algorithm achieves better heading estimation accuracy across three smartphones and four orientations, with an average heading error of 1.577 degrees on the Mate 20 smartphone.

Summary: A universal fault-tolerant quantum computer is currently unavailable, but the development of near-term quantum algorithms like robust amplitude estimation (RAE) can optimize the performance of noisy intermediate-scale quantum (NISQ) computers and early fault tolerant (EFT) quantum computers. The lack of realistic error models has been a challenge for RAE, but we solve this by tailoring device noise using randomized compiling to generate an effective noise model that closely simulates the impact of device noise on RAE. By conducting noisy simulations, we demonstrate that our noise-tailored RAE algorithm can achieve improvements in bias and precision, even showing an advantage over standard estimation techniques on IBM's quantum computer ibmq_belem.

Summary: Recent papers on the robust stability of FIE and MHE have limitations in guaranteeing convergence and boundedness of estimate errors in various scenarios. A new definition of robust stability has been introduced to address these issues and show that both FIE and MHE can achieve robust stability and convergence under certain conditions.

Summary: This study focuses on searching for a nano-Hertz gravitational wave background signal using pulsar timing data. Although no definite evidence has been found yet, the researchers expect to make a statistically significant detection in the future with more data. The study compares different sampling algorithms and proposes two robustness checks for the data.
