Summary: This review examines the association between electronic health (eHealth) literacy and health outcomes in older adults. The results indicate that older adults have relatively low eHealth literacy, and it is positively associated with health behaviors and cognitive outcomes, while the associations with physical and psychosocial outcomes are less consistent.

Summary: A cohort study on the impact of Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) on Medicaid expenditures and utilization showed that three years after PSH entry, individuals experienced a significant decrease in monthly Medicaid spending, particularly for behavioral health and inpatient non-behavioral health services. This reduction in spending was accompanied by decreases in emergency department visits and inpatient hospital stays, suggesting potential financial benefits of financing PSH services through Medicaid for homeless individuals.

Summary: This study summarizes and synthesizes the existing literature on the relationship between food insecurity (FS) and mental health conditions among adult individuals experiencing homelessness. The findings suggest a potential association between FS and several mental health conditions, particularly depression, mental health symptoms severity, and poor mental health status scores. More longitudinal and interventional studies are needed to understand the nature and directionality of the links between FS and mental health in this population group.

Summary: This study explored the feasibility of advance care planning (ACP) for chronically homeless older adults in permanent supportive housing (PSH). Complex relationship dynamics, resource limitations, pessimism, and competing priorities were identified as barriers, while easy-to-use documents/videos, stable housing, exposure to health crises, strong relationships, and belief in the impact of ACP were identified as facilitators. Recommendations included adapting materials, providing staff trainings, and conducting ACP in one-on-one or group sessions.

Summary: The review of 22 studies found that personal factors significantly influenced older adults' PHIM, with various tools used to manage different types of personal health information. Older adults' PHIM was closely connected to their surroundings, with limited research focusing on the physical environment. Research has mainly treated older adults as a single group, neglecting age subgroups. Opportunities for further studies exist across all elements of the patient work system.

Summary: This study examines the factors associated with poor sleep quality in homeless older adults and finds that physical and mental health are related to poor sleep quality. Having at least one confidant is associated with decreased odds of poor sleep. Current housing status is not significantly associated with poor sleep quality.

Summary: This study aims to evaluate the relationship between electronic health record (EHR) usability and postsurgical outcomes in older adults with dementia. The results show that older adults with dementia who received care in hospitals with better EHR usability had a lower risk of mortality within 30 days after surgery compared to hospitals with poorer EHR usability. However, EHR usability was not associated with readmission or length of stay.

Summary: The study found that the five psychosocial protective factors (purpose-in life, resilience, optimism, internal locus of control, and social connections) have a positive impact on the psychological and physical health of older adults. As the number of these protective factors increases, health outcomes improve, with the greatest improvement observed between 0 and 1 factor. Additionally, there is a significant linear trend of reduced healthcare expenditures with an increase in protective factors.
