Summary: This study evaluated the effects of the bisphosphonate clodronate on ATP/metabolites and NA overflow in sympathetic perivascular nerve terminals. The results showed that clodronate did not affect the time course of ATP or NA overflow induced by nerve terminal depolarization, but it significantly increased perfusate adenosine concentration at a concentration of 10 nM.

Summary: Vanillin, a phenolic aldehyde found in vanilla plants, has been found to induce concentration-dependent vasodilation in rat mesenteric resistance arteries. This vasodilation is not affected by endothelial denudation or the inhibition of various enzymes, suggesting that vanillin may be a potent vasodilatory molecule.

Summary: Acitretin induces relaxation in rat isolated thoracic aorta preparations, which may be mediated by nitric oxide, cyclic adenosine monophosphate, cyclic guanosine monophosphate-dependent kinases, and potassium channels.

Summary: In this study, the vasodilatory effects of Praeruptorin A (PA) from Radix Peucedani were investigated using isolated rat thoracic aorta artery rings. The results showed that PA induces vasodilation by influencing the amounts of endothelium-derived relaxing factors, such as NO and prostacyclin 2, through endothelial-dependent NO-cGMP and prostacyclin pathways. Furthermore, PA inhibits Ca2+ inflow, thereby reducing vasoconstriction.

Summary: This study explores the direct effects of A. officinarum extract on vascular reactivity. The results show that A. officinarum induces concentration-dependent vasodilation in mesenteric resistance arteries, and this effect is endothelium independent. The active compound eucalyptol also exhibits a similar vasodilatory effect.

Summary: Aging of the arteries is characterized by increased stiffness and impaired dilation, which can be ameliorated by deleting T cells. In this study, thymectomized mice showed similar T cell changes and arterial dysfunction as old mice, indicating that an aged-like T cell phenotype alone is sufficient to induce arterial dysfunction in young mice.

Summary: The study found that T. caulis extract and its active compound vanillin can induce vascular relaxation in rat resistance arteries, which may help reduce blood pressure.

Summary: Narirutin induces relaxation in rat mesenteric arteries through mechanisms involving phosphodiesterase inhibition, leading to increased intracellular cAMP, stimulation of endothelial nitric oxide synthase, and activation of voltage-gated potassium channels in vascular smooth muscle cells.

Summary: Various subtypes of GABA(A) receptors are expressed in the rat thoracic aorta tissue, demonstrating significant vasodilatory effects. Positive allosteric modulators of GABA(A) receptors, such as diazepam, SH-I-048A, XHe-III-074, MP-III-022, and DK-I56-1, showed strong vascular effects, suggesting a potential therapeutic target for modulation of vascular GABA(A) receptors.

Summary: The study demonstrates that aspirin induces vasodilation in mesenteric resistance arteries by acting through the endothelial-derived hyperpolarizing factor (EDHF) and calcium-activated potassium channels. This mechanism suggests that aspirin may be beneficial for pregnancies complicated by hypertension by reducing peripheral vascular resistance.

Summary: The aorta, divided into the thoracic and abdominal segments, is the largest elastic artery in the human body. The thoracic aorta consists of several parts and is composed of three histologic layers. Different segments of the aorta have varying physiological properties and are prone to different diseases. Understanding the morphology and clinicopathological correlations is crucial for the diagnosis and management of thoracic aortic diseases.
