Summary: This study aimed to explore the risk factors for poor medication adherence in older people with hypertension. The results indicated that education level, co-living, hypertension complications, admission blood pressure, and falls were statistically significantly associated with medication adherence. Multivariable logistic regression analysis identified living with spouses and offspring, and high admission blood pressure as significant predictors for poor medication adherence, whereas the absence of hypertension complications and falls were associated with lower risk. These findings are clinically relevant for identifying high-risk individuals with poor medication adherence and enabling timely interventions by healthcare professionals.

Summary: This study investigated the mediating role of self-efficacy in the association between medication literacy and medication adherence in older adults with multimorbidity. The results showed positive correlations between medication literacy, self-efficacy, and medication adherence. Further analysis indicated that self-efficacy partially mediated the relationship between medication literacy and medication adherence, accounting for 30.22% of the total effect.

Summary: This study investigated the integration of a smart multidose blister package and medication intake behavior of older adults with chronic diseases using an integrated theoretical model. The findings suggest that the smart blister package is easy to use and acceptable by older adults. Clinicians should assess an older adult's medication intake behavior as well as barriers and facilitators to product use before recommending adherence products for managing medications.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the barriers that prevent Bangladeshi people living with HIV from ensuring adherence to antiretroviral therapy (ART). The study identified three significant categories of barriers at the individual, community, and institutional levels, with stigma and discrimination being the most dominant barriers. Other barriers included improper inventory management and lack of proper counseling. The study recommended strengthening the supply chain of ART-related medicines and CD4 tests, as well as behavior change communication activities to destigmatize healthcare facilities and the community.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to identify the current situation of polypharmacy and medication-related burden among PLWHIV aged 50 and above, as well as the relation between medication-related burden and antiretroviral therapy (ART) adherence. The study found that 40% of the participants were receiving polypharmacy, and PLWHIV who were female, had a lower monthly income, and took more drugs were more likely to report a higher level of medication-related burden. Furthermore, the score of ART adherence was negatively associated with medication-related burden.

Summary: This study evaluated a nurse-led medication self-management intervention for older people with multimorbidity. It found that self-reported clinical diagnosis of hypothyroidism was associated with higher prevalence of anemia, but there was no causal association with variation of thyroid function within the euthyroid range. Summary: This study demonstrates the similarity of HPV types among wart cases, family members, and household linen, showing that HPV1 and HPV2 are more likely to be transmitted to family members and household linen. Dissemination of skin wart-causing HPV types, especially HPV1 and HPV2, from wart cases to household contacts and linen, is highlighted as an important finding deserving further investigation.

Summary: The combination of measuring performance and giving feedback can be challenging for supervisors, and there are conflicting perspectives on the effects of supervisor-trainee relationships on assessing performance. This study examines how progress evaluations are used in postgraduate education with longitudinal supervisor-trainee relationships. The findings suggest that progress evaluations are useful for discussing trainee development and adding structure to the learning process, but the reliability of scoring performance is low.

Summary: In the past decade, prescription opioid use has increased exponentially, leading to a rise in opioid use disorders. This study aimed to understand the patients' perspective on developing a prescription opioid use disorder (OUD). Through in-depth interviews with 25 adults undergoing treatment for prescription OUD, it was found that the development of OUD is influenced by various factors, which can be categorized into three themes: experiences driving initiation, experiences driving continuation, and experiences with prescription OUD. The findings highlight the need for better guidance, monitoring, and pain management strategies to prevent and address prescription OUD.
