M2SiO4 [M = Mg, Ca, Sr] doped with Tb3+ nanophosphors were synthesized with sol gel technology. Crystal structure and their luminescent properties were analyzed by X-ray diffraction and spectrofluorimeter. Under the irradiation of 225 nm ultraviolet light, the spectra of prepared phosphors exhibited emission at 543 nm attributed to the magnetic dipole transition (D-5(4) -> F-7(5)) of the Tb3+ Photo luminescent properties of M2SiO4:Tb3+ nanophosphors were also studied as a function of dopant and effect of heating. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) studies were carried out to explore the morphological features of the phosphors.
