Summary: Zero-dimensional (0D) metal halides based on environmental friendliness, low cost, and earth-abundant elements have gained attention for various applications. In this study, Mn-doped 0D C4H12N2ZnX4 (X = Cl and Br) with strong green emission was developed for scintillator and white light-emitting diode (WLED) applications. Mn doping effect on the electronic structure of C4H12N2ZnX4 was investigated using spectroscopic studies and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The results showed that Mn doping reduced the bandgap and enhanced the Mn d-d emission, resulting in high photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) and luminous efficacy in Mn-doped C4H12N2ZnX4-based WLEDs.

Summary: Atomic layer deposition (ALD) offers excellent film uniformity and conformality for the deposition of mixed-halide perovskite films. However, ALD is only capable of depositing iodine-based halide perovskites and lacks processes for other halides. In this study, six new low temperature ALD processes for PbCl2 and PbBr2 deposition are described, which are crucial steps for depositing mixed-halide perovskites with ALD.

Summary: The optical, electronic, and thermoelectric characteristics of Rb2AgAsX6 (X = Cl, Br, I) have been comprehensively studied using a first principle approach. The thermodynamic stability and structural stability were ensured through the calculation of the formation energy and tolerance factor. It was found that the band gaps of the double perovskites can be tuned by replacing the anions (Cl to Br, and I). Their absorption regions range from infrared to visible, making them suitable for various optoelectronic applications. Additionally, the thermoelectric performance was evaluated based on power factor and figure of merit, revealing the potential of these materials for thermoelectric applications.

Summary: The physical properties of organic-inorganic hybrid crystals with the formula [ NH3(CH2)(3)NH3 ] ZnX4 (X=Cl, Br) were investigated, including phase transition temperatures and thermodynamic properties. The structural dynamics, particularly the role of the [ NH3(CH2)(3)NH3 ] cation, were probed through H-1 and C-13 magic-angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. The differences in structural dynamics between the two compounds were attributed to differences in bond lengths and halogen atoms, providing insights for potential applications of these crystals.

Summary: Averievite-type compounds have different structure types with a one-dimensional electroneutral framework composed of Cu2+ ions and oxygen ions, possessing channels occupied by monovalent metal cations M+ and halide ions X-. The formation of a particular structure type is controlled by the interplay of chemical composition and temperature.

Summary: Two-dimensional Ruddlesden-Popper hybrid organic-inorganic perovskite crystals have been extensively studied as solution-processable scintillators. This review provides an overview of various compounds, including iodide compounds, ion-doped compounds, and lead-free perovskite variants, with a focus on their light yield, decay times, and environmental friendliness. The comprehensive investigation aims to identify the ultimate 2-D RP HOIP scintillators with high light yield, ultrafast response, and environmental friendliness.

Summary: In this study, a new class of mixed-valence layered halide perovskites Cs4M(IV)M(II)(2)X-12 has been predicted by first-principles calculations. Cs4GeGe2Cl12, Cs4GeGe2Br12, and Cs4GeGe2Br6Cl6 are found to exhibit thermodynamic, dynamical, and mechanical stability. The electronic structure calculations reveal the presence of an isolated intermediate conduction band contributed by the Ge(IV) 4s states.

Summary: Using calculations and simulations, we studied the temperature-dependent magnetic properties of Janus monolayer Fe2XY and the effects of different magnetic interactions on the Curie temperature. We found that isotropic exchange interaction can increase the Curie temperature, while antisymmetric exchange interaction decreases it. We also employed a temperature rescaling method to obtain temperature-dependent magnetic properties consistent with experiments. Our findings have implications for the application of Janus monolayers in room-temperature spintronic devices and through heat-assisted techniques.

Summary: Highly uniform Cu micropillars were achieved by electrodeposition on a Cu seed layer using binary levelers containing pyrrolidine and pyridine functional groups in a micropatterned photoresist. Investigation of the adsorption behaviors of the binary levelers on the Cu seed surface revealed that the preferential adsorption of the levelers at the center and edge region resulted in a uniform Cu pillar profile.

Summary: Incorporating radical ligands into metal complexes is a growing trend in the design of single-molecule magnets. The described mononuclear transition metal SMMs feature high-spin iron(II) complexes with antiferromagnetically coupled alpha-diiminato radical ligands. Experimental and theoretical studies indicate that these complexes exhibit slow magnetic relaxation behavior with a strong magnetic exchange coupling.
