Natural polymeric gelatin can improve the handling properties of self-setting CPCs, which are used in the repair of bone defects. This study is aimed at examining the effect of gelatin on the biological functions of MG63 osteoblast-like cells. Gelatin-containing CPCs show greater cellular viability than a CPC control without gelatin and significantly more FN is absorbed. Cell proliferation, with the amount of doped gelatin, and the expression of activated FAK and total integrin, with increasing gelatin content, are increased. The highest levels of total integrin, pFAK, FN, osteocalcin, bone sialoprotein, and calcium deposits are expressed by MG63 cells on the CPC containing 10% gelatin.
