Summary: This article describes a new species of the subgenus Endopodalius, associated with the agave weevil species Scyphophorus acupunctatus Gyllenhal (Coleoptera: Dryophthoridae). The new species was found in adult females from the southeastern region of the Iberian Peninsula. This beetle, a relative of the palm weevil, is an invasive exotic species that has become a new pest spreading among agave plants in the Iberian Peninsula (Mediterranean region). The morphological characteristics of this mite, such as a simplified laelapid-type sperm access system and remarkably elongated cheliceral shafts with an elongate subcapitular platform, reveal new undescribed attributes for the subgenus.

Summary: The study aimed to test the impact of dead wood on the species diversity of Uropodina communities, and found that the presence of dead wood increases the species diversity of Uropodina by attracting rare and stenotopic species. Therefore, leaving dead trees in forests is crucial for the habitat protection of these species.

Summary: In this study, a new species of mite, Imparipes hajiqanbari, is described and illustrated based on female individuals collected from ants in the forests of northern Iran. Additionally, the first records of I. obsoletus and I. histricinus in Iran are reported. An overview of Iranian Imparipes mites associated with hymenopterans and their host range is also provided.

Summary: A new species of pygmephorid mites, Pediculaster absentia sp. n., was described and illustrated based on phoretic female found in northern forests of Iran, phoretic on muscid flies. Additionally, three other species of pygmephorid mites were reported for the first time on flies in Iran. The study also reviewed the variation of hysterosomal setae, distributions, and host range of the recorded species.

Summary: There are reports on the dispersal of predatory mites on insects, but little is known about their mutual interactions. Blattisocius mali is a promising predatory mite for pest control, and our research indicates an ectoparasitic relationship between this species and drosophilid fruit flies. The mites attach to and feed on the flies, leading to increased fly mortality.

Summary: Zercoseius luizdequeirozi n. sp. is a newly discovered mite species described based on adult females collected from disturbed areas of the Brazilian Atlantic Forest biome. It differs from the previously known species Zercoseius spathuliger in terms of the shape of dorsal shield setae and the presence of seta s1.

Summary: Since 2008, spruce bud blight has been spreading rapidly in the Ore Mountains of the Czech Republic, particularly affecting Colorado blue spruce. This fungus damages buds, leading to reduced assimilation and even tree death. The spread of this fungus has significantly increased in recent years, impacting both Colorado blue spruce and Norway spruce.

Summary: This study describes two new species, Stammeroplitis panguanaensis and Rotundabaloghia (Circobaloghia) koepckeorum, and provides detailed characterizations of them. In addition, the study classifies and reorganizes the genera Stammeroplitis and Clausiadinychus, and presents important information on known species.

Summary: This study examined the suitability of using a maturity index based on the distribution of species in Uropodina populations to evaluate soil quality. It found that the majority of Uropodina species analyzed in Poland are K-strategists, with the highest maturity index values found in legally protected areas in Poland.

Summary: This study continues to explore the importance of dead wood for the biodiversity of Uropodina mite communities, finding that different tree species may impact the species composition and abundance of these mites. The study revealed that a variety of Uropodina species were collected from broadleaved tree species, with beech, oak, pine, spruce, linden, and hornbeam hosting the richest communities. The research also showed that mite communities varied across regions in Poland due to differences in the range of occurrence of these species.

Summary: Current ecological models predict that climate change will have significant effects on the natural disturbances of forests. The spruce budworm, a major defoliating insect in eastern North America, has a major impact on the Canadian boreal forest. Little is known about how climate fluctuations affect the growth of the spruce budworm host species during outbreaks.

Summary: This study assessed the predictive performance of a Bayesian hierarchical model on the presence of eastern spruce dwarf mistletoe in lowland black spruce stands. The model accurately predicted mistletoe occurrence in 13 out of 25 stands, highlighting the significant impact of living and dead black spruce basal area on infestation. Model benchmarking was emphasized for improving model interpretation and understanding forest health issues across diverse stand conditions.

Summary: Forensic entomology utilizes knowledge of arthropods to gather valuable information for forensic investigations. Insects and mites have potential significance in estimating the time and location of death. This paper presents an interaction network between mites and their host insects in Navarra, providing valuable insights for future forensic investigations.

Summary: A new genus and three new species of Athyreacaridae associated with beetles of subfamily Bolboceratinae in Neotropical and Afrotropical realms were described. These new species were collected in Chile, Argentina, and South Africa. An updated key to the genera and species of Athyreacaridae was provided, and Athyreacarus staturosus sp. nov. was identified as the largest non-physogastric female among Heterostigmata.

Summary: This paper discusses the issue of genocide against the Polish nation by Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union during World War II, with a particular focus on the genocide against foresters. The research reveals that foresters, due to their education, practical skills, professional experience, and knowledge, were a particularly vulnerable group targeted for extermination. The paper aims to present the scale of genocide, using Lemkin's definition as a starting point for the analysis.
