The utilization of classical ceramic technology for ferrite preparation permits to obtain strontium hexaferrite with big crystals, of micrometer size, with a smaller coercive force than the hexaferrite with submicron crystals. In this work the strontium hexaferrite was obtained with submicron crystals, by hot reduction of the hexaferrite obtained through ceramic technology in CO atmosphere, followed by the thermal re-oxidization in air. The effects of treatment in CO atmosphere and of the re-calcination treatment on the magnetic and electric properties of the strontium hexaferrite were investigated.

Summary: By selecting the pumping mode and setting the phase, supermode-based second harmonic generation is demonstrated in an integrated nonlinear interferometer. The methods of post-selecting or actively setting the pumping mode pave the way for classical and quantum applications of coupled nonlinear photonic circuits. This approach allows for multimode excitation, encoding, and detection, enabling multiplexing and scaling up light-processing in various applications.

The Influence of Li+ and K+ Added Cations and Annealing Temperature on the Magnetic and Dielectric Properties of Mg-Zn Ferrite

Iulian Petrila, Florin Tudorache

Summary: This paper investigates the impact of adding Li+ and K+ metal ions on the magnetic and dielectric properties of Mg-Zn ferrite. By controlling the addition of metal ions and selecting sintering temperatures, the performance of ferrite can be optimized. The results show that changes in microstructure directly affect the material's properties.

A cost-effective method for obtaining single magnetic cotton yarns

Summary: This study presents a cost-effective procedure for obtaining magnetic single cotton yarns using commercially available magnetic powders and adhesives. The diameter of the coated yarns is directly related to the amount of magnetic powder in the coating solution, and increasing the mass percentage of the magnetic powder content improves the magnetic properties of the composite yarns. The highest magnetic properties were measured when neodymium permanent magnets were used for magnetization, with an increase in residual magnetization and saturation with the amount of barium hexaferrite embedded in the textile yarn.

Effects of sintering temperature on the microstructure, electrical and magnetic characteristics of copper-zinc spinel ferrite with possibility use as humidity sensors

Iulian Petrila, Florin Tudorache

Summary: This paper investigated the effect of sintering temperature on copper-zinc spinel ferrite synthesized using a sol-gel self-combustion method, with a focus on its potential application in humidity sensors. The study found that annealing temperatures had a significant impact on the structure, electrical, and magnetic properties of the ferrite material. The analysis also explored the temperature-dependent electrical conductivity, relative magnetic permeability, and relative permittivity, as well as the material's performance as a humidity sensor at various humidity levels.

Spontaneous Polarization Reversal Induced by Proton Exchange in Z-Cut Lithium Niobate α-Phase Channel Waveguides

Alicia Petronela Rambu, Vasile Tiron, Eugen Oniciuc, Sorin Tascu

Summary: In this study, the ferroelectric dipoles switching induced by the fabrication process of alpha-phase waveguides on Z-cut congruent lithium niobate substrates was investigated using piezoresponse force microscopy. The results showed that the proton exchange process caused a spontaneous polarization reversal and a reduction in the piezoelectric coefficient d(33). The study also quantitatively assessed the impact of proton exchange on the piezoelectric coefficient d(33) for different fabrication parameters, showing a correlation between index contrast and d(33) reduction.
