Objective: To present the development and validation of an instrument for characterizing people, aged 50 or over, who are carriers of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus / Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome. Methods: The content of the instrument, which was developed based on consulted literature and the professional experience of the researchers, was validated by seven experts. The validation was performed in two stages of evaluation, using the Kendall coefficient of concordance to evaluate, the first time, concordance among experts with regard to relevance, clarity, and completeness of content, and secondly, the adequacy and comprehensiveness. The Cochran test was used to evaluate the concordance regarding clarity, in the second evaluation. Results: There was disagreement among the experts in the first evaluation, and after reformulation of the instrument, concordance was obtained in the second evaluation. Conclusion: The instrument for characterizing this population was validated against the content being used by researchers, and is now made available for use.

Development and Validation of a Salt Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ-Na) and a Discretionary Salt Questionnaire (DSQ) for the Evaluation of Salt Intake among French-Canadian Population

Maria Cecilia Gallani, Alexandra Proulx-Belhumeur, Natalie Almeras, Jean-Pierre Despres, Michel Dore, Jean-Francois Giguere

Summary: The study evaluated the reliability and validity of a Salty Food Frequency Questionnaire and a Discretionary Salt Questionnaire developed for the French-Canadian population, demonstrating that these tools are reliable and showed some facets of validity. Results showed that the FFQ-Na had correlations with 24 h urine sodium excretion and 3-day food records, while the DSQ did not show significant correlations with the reference measures.

A Mobile Phone App Intervention to Promote Healthy Salt Intake Among Adults: Protocol for a Randomized Controlled Study

Milena Sia Perin, Thais Sao-Joao, Maria Cecilia Bueno Jayme Gallani, Titilayo Tatiana Agbadje, Roberta Cunha Matheus Rodrigues, Marilia Estevam Cornelio

Summary: This study aims to describe a mobile phone app intervention to promote healthy salt intake among adults. The study consists of three modules, including intervention planning, app development, and randomized controlled study evaluation. The results of this study are expected to help control salt intake when cooking at home, stimulate self-care, and serve as an alternative or supportive method in the relationship between health care professionals and patients.

Validity, sensitivity and specificity of a measure of medication adherence instrument among patients taking oral anticoagulants

Mariana Dolce Marques, Rafaela Batista dos Santos Pedrosa, Henrique Ceretta Oliveira, Maria Cecilia Bueno Jayme Gallani, Roberta Cunha Matheus Rodrigues

Summary: Self-report instruments are commonly used to measure medication adherence but are influenced by factors like social desirability and memory bias. To address this, the Global Assessment of Medication Adherence Instrument (GEMA) was developed. This study evaluated the properties of GEMA in patients with chronic diseases and found that GEMA had good acceptability, evidence of specificity, and low sensitivity in identifying non-adherents among those with unstable international normalized ratio (INR).
