Summary: The study evaluated the psychometric properties of the Chinese version of the Short Inflammatory Bowel Disease Questionnaire (C-SIBDQ) in Chinese patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and its measurement invariance across sex. Results showed that C-SIBDQ had good reliability, validity, and stability with no floor or ceiling effects, and demonstrated measurement invariance across sex with females scoring higher than males.

Summary: This study explores the impact of self-esteem and passive coping strategies on health-related quality of life in pediatric patients with inflammatory bowel disease. Results show that self-esteem is positively associated with HRQOL but negatively associated with passive coping. Self-esteem indirectly affects HRQOL through passive coping, particularly catastrophizing.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness and acceptability of a web resource in enhancing food-related quality of life in newly diagnosed inflammatory bowel disease patients. The results showed that FR-QoL increased more in the web resource group, and IBD distress reduced, while the control group showed opposite results.

Summary: This review provides a comprehensive overview of the multifactorial etiology implicated in the chronic abdominal pain of IBD patients and highlights the necessity of pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches for treatment. Integrating psychological support in care models of IBD can reduce disease burden and healthcare costs.

Summary: Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBDs) and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) are associated with decreased quality of life and mental health problems. Vitamin D supplementation is considered to be effective in improving mental health in affected individuals. Studies have shown a positive effect of vitamin D supplementation on the mental health of IBD and IBS patients, but further research is needed for confirmation.

Summary: The study investigated challenges faced by patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) during travel, their information-seeking behavior and associated factors. A significant percentage of participants sought medical advice or were hospitalized overseas, with common barriers including concerns about toilet facilities, cleanliness, and access to medical care. Although a majority sought travel advice, some did not obtain travel insurance coverage for their IBD, which was associated with lack of advice or difficulty in obtaining insurance. Participants traveling for work were more likely to face medical issues overseas and not obtain proper travel insurance.

Summary: The study found that patients with idiopathic rapid eye movement (REM) sleep behavior disorder (iRBD) exhibited an increased number of periodic limb movements during sleep compared to healthy controls. It also revealed significant associations between striatal dopamine transporter uptake and sleep architecture, indicating that dopamine deficiency in the caudate nucleus may affect sleep quality.

Summary: The study aimed to determine the rate of transient acute hydrocephalus in patients with aSAH treated endovascularly and evaluate its predictive factors. A new risk score, DOTAHAS score, was constructed to differentiate patients with TAH from those needing surgical interventions. The study identified older age, poor initial clinical condition, aSAH from posterior circulation, and extent of hemorrhage as independent risk factors for acute hydrocephalus. Patients with higher DOTAHAS scores had a significantly higher risk for external ventricular drainage placement. Further evaluation of the score is needed.

Summary: This study demonstrates that the inhibition of the specific isoform of Bone Morphogenetic Protein 1 (BMP1.3) by a monoclonal antibody can reduce cardiac fibrosis and provide cardioprotection through inhibiting the Transforming Growth Factor beta pathway and inducing BMP5. It suggests the therapeutic potential of anti-BMP1.3 antibodies in preventing cardiomyocyte apoptosis, reducing collagen deposition, and preserving cardiac function after ischemia.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the frequency and factors affecting the use of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) and dietary supplements among pediatric cancer patients in Croatia. Results showed that half of the participants used CAM, and more than two-thirds used dietary supplements. Herbal medicine, vitamins, and minerals were among the most commonly used items. It is important to raise awareness about the use of CAM and dietary supplements in pediatric oncology patients to predict and mitigate side effects.

Summary: The aim of this study is to determine whether physical activity levels may play a role in mediating the relationship between non-ergonomic body position and musculoskeletal health in professional bus drivers. The study found that the majority of participants reported musculoskeletal pain, with a significant proportion being at high risk for musculoskeletal disorders. Additionally, physical activity level was found to mediate the relationship between non-ergonomic body position and musculoskeletal health.
