Summary: Digital twins are recognized as a key facilitator for service business growth in manufacturing. This study focuses on the preconditions and benefits of developing ecosystem-based services around digital twins. The results show that individual companies' willingness to share information and goal orientation determine the emergence of ecosystems at the company level. The expected benefits include effective resource utilization, co-learning opportunities, and new business creation. At the ecosystem level, a digital twin business ecosystem requires technical receptivity, common interests and goals, and a customer-centric approach. A successful digital twin business ecosystem provides inter-organizational value for its members.

Summary: With the rapid development of digital technologies, innovative business models have flourished in the past two decades, necessitating further investigation into the research trends of business models in the digital era. This study utilizes bibliometrics techniques to explore the existing literature on business models, and employs structured reviews to conduct content analysis, resulting in the identification of research trends and propositions. The analysis reveals that the majority of the literature can be summarized into a 4V-BM framework, encompassing value proposition, value creation, value delivery, and value capture. Furthermore, it uncovers and validates three trending areas focused on dynamics, digitalization, and business ecosystem. Based on these findings, the study proposes a concept of the ecosystem-oriented business model that reflects these three trending features. The research findings provide insights for entrepreneurs and ecosystem organizations regarding the current business models in digital transformation and their potential economic impact.

Summary: This study proposes a conceptual framework based on the ecosystem business model to specify actors' roles in innovation of the ecosystem. Two case studies from the air transport and healthcare sectors are used to illustrate the arguments and demonstrate their application under different connectivity governance rules. This paper contributes to the ecosystem literature by explaining the interaction between governance structures and innovation dynamics and providing a new explanation of ecosystem evolution compatible with digital connectivity trends. The framework also serves as a guiding tool for practitioners to map out actor roles and their potential impact on innovation in the ecosystem's value proposition.
