Summary: This study reports the synthesis of gold nanoparticles using chemical reduction in batch and microreactor methods. A parametric study was conducted to analyze the effect of several factors on the size of the nanoparticles, and the best conditions obtained were used to synthesize gold nanoparticles in a glass chip microreactor. The results show that the microreactor method consistently produces smaller nanoparticles in a shorter reaction time.

Summary: A new variational Gaussian regression filter is proposed in this paper by incorporating variational parameters into a linear parametric Gaussian regression process. The filtering evidence lower bound serves as a quantitative evaluation rule for different filters, and a relationship between F-ELBO and M-ELBO is identified. The accuracy performance improvement of VGRF can be theoretically explained based on these findings.

Summary: This study explores the application of physics informed neural networks (PINNs) as a low-cost physics-based simulation approach for the thermal analysis of the laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) process. PINNs solve the heat transfer equation parametrically and provide reliable transient and steady-state temperature profiles for single-track LPBF depositions. The trained PINNs can calculate temperature profiles and melt-pool dimensions during the LPBF process with practically zero computational cost. The reliability of PINNs outcomes is verified through ground-truth data based on benchmark finite element simulations.

Summary: The study tested and calibrated the XBeachX model for dune erosion, improving the accuracy of dune erosion simulation. Adjusting coefficients to enhance the model's performance in predicting wave transformation and dune erosion profiles. The model successfully predicted wave transformation and dune erosion, but predicting underwater sand bar evolution remains challenging.

Summary: This study investigated the adsorptive removal of the organophosphate diazinon pesticide using porous pumice adsorbent. The optimal removal conditions were obtained at pH=3, adsorbent dosage=4 g/L, contact time=30 min, and initial pesticide concentration=6.2 mg/L.Isotherm, kinetic, and thermodynamic models were used to analyze the adsorption process.

Summary: A new bacterial strain, Bacillus cereus AKAD 3-1, was found to degrade cypermethrin in an aqueous medium. The degradation was optimized using central composite design and artificial neural network-genetic algorithm. The results showed that the process variables significantly affected the biodegradation of cypermethrin. The strain successfully converted cypermethrin into non-toxic products.

Summary: Through the use of a homemade dynamic vacuum system, fully crystallized VO2 (M) was successfully synthesized at high temperatures (>500°C) in a single step involving the decomposition of vanadyl ethylene glycolate (VEG) and the crystallization of VO2. Maintaining vanadium valence (+4) and controlling the microstructure of VEG are crucial in determining the size and shape of the final product. This method is deemed suitable for the mass production of VO2 nanoparticles.
