Summary: In this study, titanium dioxide scaffolds were successfully synthesized using the sol-gel method. The scaffolds were formed by using titanium isopropoxide as a precursor and a polymeric network of galactopyranose as a template. The synthesized scaffolds have diameters of 50 nm and porosity ranging from 0.3 to 10 nm. XRD analysis confirmed the formation of crystalline phases in the TiO2 scaffold at 700 degrees C. The use of biological polymers as templates provides a low-cost and efficient approach for the synthesis of new materials.

Summary: The study investigates the thermo-reversible sol-gel transition in solutions made of titanium n-butoxide, ethanol, water, and nitric acid using in situ temperature-dependent Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. It was found that the nitrate ion plays a key role in substituting ligands and forming bridges and chelates, leading to gel formation. The elastic component was identified as the most important in the material's structure based on dynamic rheological studies of the temperature-dependent viscoelastic behavior.

Summary: In this study, a bacterial strain LSH-W was isolated and identified as Paracoccus sp. It was found to have the ability to grow using bis (2-hydroxyethyl) terephthalate (BHET) as the sole carbon and energy source. The strain demonstrated potential for PET degradation through surface modification of PET film, improving its hydrophobicity and hydrolyzing ester bonds. This study provides a valuable attempt in the treatment of plastic pollution.

Summary: Titanium carbide nanopowders and nanowhiskers were synthesized using the sol-gel process with phenolic resin and titanium alkoxide as precursors. The synthesis temperature and soaking time were found to affect the free carbon content and the formation and morphology of TiC nanopowders. Nucleation of titanium carbide occurred at approximately 1200 degrees C and ended at 1400 degrees C. The synthesized nanopowders had mesoporous structure with a specific surface area of 150 m2/g, and TiC nanowhiskers heterogeneously nucleated and grew in a soaking time of 3 h. The free carbon content in the synthesized product under 3 h soaking time was less than 1%.

Summary: Polyethylene glycol templates with different molecular weight were used to synthesize and improve the porous structure of samarium titanate. The use of polyethylene glycol inhibited the aggregation of particles during calcination and reduced the crystal volume of samarium titanate. The activity of the materials was strongly influenced by the molecular weight of polyethylene glycol.

Summary: This study investigated the use of waste PET fibers and waste granite powder as reinforcement materials in autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC). The PET fibers were modified with dopamine to improve the interfacial adhesion between the fibers and the AAC matrix. The results showed that the addition of PET fibers and dopamine-modified PET fibers significantly increased the compressive and flexural strengths of the AAC blocks.

Summary: Zinc titanate-quartz composite microspheres were synthesized using a sol-gel method, and the addition of polyethylene glycol improved the photocatalytic activity of the composites. The size of the ZnTiO3 crystals decreased with increasing polyethylene glycol content, and the ZnTiO3 particles were well dispersed in the composites. The composites exhibited a wider bandgap and enhanced photocatalytic activity compared to pure ZnTiO3.

Summary: The study investigates the effects of Cr and N doping on the properties of TiO2 anatase nanoparticles, including adsorption capacity, photocatalytic performance, and antibacterial response. Doping with Cr and Cr/N enhances adsorption capacity and photocatalytic performance, with Cr-TiO2 nanoparticles exhibiting antibacterial activity under visible light. The differences in electrostatic charge and nanoparticle dispersion are suggested as the main reasons for the varied antibacterial response among the doped nanoparticles.

Summary: The study aimed to determine the normal length and shape of the Achilles tendon (AT) and investigate correlating factors. Measurements were taken from 100 asymptomatic patients using magnetic resonance imaging. The results showed that 73% of the patients had an AT length within the range of 30-55 mm, and there was no correlation between tendon length and patient height. The study also found a strong correlation between AT length and the area of Kager's fat pad.

Summary: This study aimed to clarify the incidence and risk factors of infusion-related reactions (IRRs) caused by trastuzumab in breast cancer patients and verify the preventive effects of dexamethasone. The results showed that premedication with dexamethasone lowered the risk of trastuzumab-induced IRRs. Future studies are needed to determine the optimal dose of dexamethasone to prevent IRRs and the impact of dexamethasone on the efficacy of trastuzumab in breast cancer.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the association between the flexion-extension gap difference and patient-reported outcome measures after total knee arthroplasty (TKA). The results showed that patients with a greater flexion-extension gap difference were more likely to perceive their knee joint as "natural". The study findings suggest that the flexion-extension gap difference has a significant impact on patient satisfaction and joint function after TKA.

Summary: Casein, digested soy protein, and dextrin decrease the gastric absorption of phenytoin, while digested casein further reduces the absorption by weakening tight junctions. On the other hand, digested casein and dextrin increase the permeability rate of phenytoin. These findings provide guidance for selecting enteral nutrients for orally administered phenytoin.

Summary: This study investigated the interaction between levetiracetam (LEV) and enteral nutrients (ENs). Co-administration of LEV with Terumeal (R) Soft, an EN, reduced the absorption of LEV, which could be prevented by administering Terumeal (R) Soft 2 hours after LEV administration. Semi-solid Racol (R) NF altered the absorption of LEV, while liquid Racol (R) NF did not affect LEV pharmacokinetics.
