Summary: This study aims to understand the perspectives and insights of NHPI community residents on conducting longitudinal cohort studies aimed at understanding mechanisms of health disparities. The results reveal the importance of health disparities like diabetes in the community and emphasize the potential impact of cohort-type research on generational change in health and well-being through the sharing of new community-derived knowledge.

Summary: Optimal diabetes care and risk factor management are important for delaying complications in type 1 diabetes patients. This study found that individuals with cardiovascular disease have lower rates of achieving glycemic, lipid, and blood pressure targets compared to those without cardiovascular disease, and that being male and using an insulin pump are associated with higher glycemic target achievement.

Summary: Cardiovascular diseases and diabetes mellitus have high morbidity and mortality rates, and they are closely linked with inflammation playing a significant role. SGLT-2 inhibitors and GLP-1 receptor agonists have a positive impact on both diseases. Furthermore, the composition of the gut microbiota can affect the progression of these conditions.

Summary: This study revealed significant gaps in the use of evidence-based therapies among patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. Data showed that only a small proportion of patients were using all three evidence-based therapies, while a substantial number were not using any of them. There is a call to action for patients, providers, industry, regulators, professional societies, and payers to work together to close these care gaps.

Summary: Hypercholesterolemia is a key pathophysiological factor predisposing to an increased risk of developing cardiovascular disease worldwide. Controlling plasma cholesterol levels and other metabolic risk factors is crucial for preventing the overall burden of disease arising from cardiovascular disease-related morbidity and mortality.

Summary: This study assessed the prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in Germany, particularly in patients at risk for or with established cardiovascular disease (CVD), and their treatments. Using claims data, T2DM prevalence was estimated at 11.9%, higher in older patients. The majority of T2DM patients had at least one cardiovascular risk factor, and about half had established CVD. Early prevention of CVD in T2DM patients, especially in older individuals, is crucial. Furthermore, the use of insulin in older T2DM patients needs further evaluation.

Summary: Diabetes mellitus is a growing epidemic associated with an increase in obesity, causing cardiovascular disease and reducing life expectancy. While strict glycemic control is proven effective for type 1 diabetes, its role in type 2 diabetes remains unclear. Therefore, multifactorial risk reduction is the most efficient prevention strategy.

Summary: This study compared the cardiovascular risk differences among individual sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitors used for the treatment of diabetes mellitus (DM). The results showed no significant differences in the risks of developing heart failure, myocardial infarction, angina pectoris, stroke, and atrial fibrillation among different SGLT2 inhibitors.

Summary: This study aimed to describe the behavioral characteristics of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients, identify homogeneous clusters, and explore factors affecting behaviors associated with integrated treatment and prevention (ITP) services for T2DM in community health centers in China. The results showed that the behaviors of T2DM patients were moderately good, but there was still room for improvement. It is necessary to develop targeted interventions for different patient groups to improve their behaviors associated with ITP services.

Summary: Depression is a common comorbidity of T2DM, increasing the risk of cardiovascular events and death. There is a two-way relationship between depression, T2DM, and its macrovascular complications. Drug treatments can affect the development of T2DM, depression, and cardiovascular events.

Summary: Non-enzymatic post-translational modifications (nPTMs) of proteins have emerged as novel risk factors for various diseases. Protein carbamylation and glycation are common nPTMs and potential therapeutic targets. Reducing the burden of these modifications is a promising therapeutic approach.

Summary: This study found that in ambulatory chronic care follow-up, the majority of adult diabetic patients had poor glycemic control. Non-adherence to medications, lack of formal education, therapeutic inertia, and poor diabetic knowledge were identified as independent predictors of poor glycemic control.

Summary: Physical activity after cancer diagnosis is beneficial for improving quality of life and prognosis, but adherence to recommendations is low among rural cancer survivors. This study examined the implementation of a clinic-based physical activity program for rural cancer survivors, which showed improvements in fatigue, constipation, pain, and sleep quality. While the program had positive impacts on participants' overall physical health, challenges in reaching a larger population of cancer survivors were identified, indicating the need for tailored physical activity programs in oncological settings.
