Summary: This study demonstrates the selective-area van der Waals epitaxy of InAs nanowires on isolated molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) domains. By exploring MOCVD growth parameters, single nanowires are positioned on multi-layer MoS2 micro-plates with pattern-free growth. Pre-growth poly-l-lysine surface treatment is essential for mitigating nucleation along MoS2 edges and promoting growth along the interior region. The resulting crystal structure is a combination of wurtzite and zinc-blend phases with a common lattice arrangement between InAs nanowires and MoS2 domains.

Summary: In order to use III-V compound semiconductors as active channel materials in advanced electronic and quantum devices, it is important to achieve a good epitaxial growth on silicon substrates. The study reports on the selective-area growth of GaP/InGaP/InP/InAsP buffer layer nanotemplates on GaP substrates which are closely lattice-matched to silicon, suitable for the integration of in-plane InAs nanowires. The results demonstrate that a growth sequence of thin layers with progressively increasing lattice parameters is effective to efficiently relax the strain and eventually obtain high quality in-plane InAs nanowires on large lattice-mismatched substrates.

Summary: The scalable fabrication of magnetic 2D materials and heterostructures using van der Waals epitaxy has been achieved with the successful growth of layered magnetic metal Fe3GeTe2 on graphene. The resulting FGT/graphene heterostructure films exhibit stable interfaces and good crystalline quality, with robust out-of-plane ferromagnetism comparable to exfoliated flakes from bulk crystals. These results are crucial for the advancement of wafer-scale growth of vdW heterostructures combining FGT with other layered crystals for multifunctional, atomically thin devices.

Summary: Large-area growth of Fe5-xGeTe2/graphene heterostructures is achieved by vdW epitaxy of Fe5-xGeTe2 on epitaxial graphene. Magnetic and transport studies show that the ferromagnetic order remains above 300 K with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy. This represents an important advance in the practical implementation of ferromagnetic 2D materials.

Summary: Remote epitaxy is a promising method for synthesizing lattice-mismatched materials, exfoliating membranes, and reusing expensive substrates. The growth of GdPtSb on clean graphene/sapphire produces a 30 degrees rotated superstructure that cannot be explained by pinhole epitaxy. The proportion of this superstructure increases with decreasing temperature, indicating a competition between remote and pinhole epitaxy.

Summary: In this study, a Cu foil-assisted alloy-buffer-controlled growth method was designed to epitaxially grow aligned single-crystalline 2D tellurium (Te) on an insulating mica substrate. The in-situ formation of Cu-Te alloy played a key role in alleviating the spatial and temporal non-uniformity of precursor, resulting in the controllable growth of high-quality and highly aligned 2D Te.

Summary: The authors present a flat-to-flat transfer method for fabricating wafer-scale graphene and graphene-based superlattices with controlled twist angles. The transferred films exhibit minimal defects, homogeneous morphology, and uniform electrical properties, including robust quantum Hall effects. This stacking transfer method can facilitate the large-scale fabrication of graphene-based van der Waals superlattices and accelerate functional device applications.

Summary: Graphene and multilayer graphene (MLG) have versatile properties and wide applications, but their production is challenging. This paper explores metal-induced crystallization to synthesize MLG directly on metal films and insulating substrates at much lower temperatures. Raman spectroscopy confirms the MLG properties of the synthesized carbon structure. The presented tip-based approach offers a simpler fabrication solution for MLG by eliminating photolithographic and transfer steps.

Summary: Researchers have developed a full-color, vertically stacked micro-LED (mu LED) with the highest array density and smallest size reported so far. This was achieved using a two-dimensional materials-based layer transfer technique, enabling the growth of RGB LEDs with submicron thickness on two-dimensional material-coated substrates, followed by stacking and top-down fabrication. This technology not only opens up new possibilities for full-color mu LED displays in augmented and virtual reality applications, but also provides a generalizable platform for other three-dimensional integrated devices.

Summary: This study investigated the synergistic association between low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and remnant cholesterol (remnant-C) levels with incident cardiovascular disease (CVD) in a large Korean population.
