Summary: By evaluating the prognostic value of lymph node ratio (LNR) and establishing a novel tumor-ratio-metastasis (TRM) staging system, the study demonstrated improved homogeneity and discriminatory ability in predicting the prognosis of gastric cancer patients compared with the AJCC TNM staging system.

Summary: The agreement between pathological and radiological staging in oropharyngeal cancer was evaluated by comparing the 7th and 8th editions of the AJCC TNM system. The study included 57 cases of oropharyngeal cancer with lymph node metastases, and significant differences were found in the distribution of early and advanced stages between HPVpos and HPVneg patients in the 8th edition. However, no significant differences were found in comparing all diagnostic methods for T and N. The 8th edition of the AJCC TNM system seems to provide better pretreatment staging.

Summary: The study revealed the association between risk factors and long-term prognosis in patients with stage II gastric cancer after radical gastrectomy. Demographic, clinical, and pathological information of 247 patients were collected and analyzed, showing that age, nerve invasion, and surgical approach were independent prognostic factors for stage II gastric cancer patients. These factors were identified through various statistical analyses and subgroup interactions, indicating their importance in predicting disease-specific survival outcomes.

Summary: This study compared the TNM-7 and TNM-8 staging systems for differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) in a Middle Eastern population, showing that TNM-8 downstaged approximately a quarter of patients and was more accurate in predicting outcomes at different stages.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the added prognostic significance of incorporating the Oncotype DX recurrence score (RS) with the prognostic stage (PS) system in stage III ER+/HER2- breast cancer. The results showed that combining RS with PS improved the prognostic prediction for stage III ER+/HER2- breast cancer.

Summary: In patients with stage III gastric cancer receiving adjuvant chemotherapy, insufficient lymph nodes removal (<16 LNs) impairs long-term outcomes, while the status of lymph nodes removal adds value to prognostic prediction of stage III gastric cancer. The new prediction system showed better performance in prognostic prediction compared to the current TNM system.

Summary: Evaluation of response following neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) in gastric cancer has been widely debated. The aim of this study was to investigate downsizing and downstaging as methods of response evaluation. The findings suggest that comparing the baseline radiological CT stage to the pathological stage following NAC is a useful method for stratifying patients based on their long-term survival rates.

Summary: Technical advancements in magnetic resonance (MR) imaging have made it possible to use it as a diagnostic tool for thoracic malignancies, providing both morphological and functional information. According to the recommendation from the Fleischner Society in 2020, MR imaging can be used for the diagnosis of lung diseases. This review focuses on the application of MR imaging in lung cancer, pulmonary nodules, and masses.

Summary: Long noncoding RNA LOC441461 is downregulated in TNM stage IV gastric cancer, promoting cell proliferation, cell cycle progression, and metastasis. It interacts with transcription factors and affects tumor progression. LOC441461 may serve as a potential biomarker and therapeutic target for advanced TNM stage gastric cancer.

Summary: This study analyzed the incidence and clinical significance of tumor deposits in different anatomical subregions of the perigastric omentum in gastric cancer patients. The results showed that tumor deposits in the omentum were associated with advanced tumor node metastasis stages and unfavorable survival. Additionally, only patients classified as pT4 had tumor deposits in the distal omentum of greater curvature.
