We argue that the success of the Internet of Things (IoT) vision will greatly depend on how its main ingredient-the thing-is architected and prepared to engage. The IoT's fragmented and wide-varying nature introduces the need for additional effort to homogenize these things so they may blend together with the surrounding space to create opportunities for powerful and unprecedented IoT applications. We introduce the IoT Device Description Language (IoT-DDL), a machine- and human-readable descriptive language for things, seeking to achieve such integration and homogenization. IoT-DDL explicitly tools things to self-discover and securely share their own capabilities, entities, and services, including the various cloud-based accessories that may be attached to them. We also present the Atlas thing architecture-a lightweight architecture for things that fully exploits IoT-DDL and its specifications. Our architecture provides new OS layers, services, and capabilities we believe a thing must have in order to be prepared to engage in IoT scenarios and applications. The architecture and IoT-DDL enable things to generate their offered services and self-formulate APIs for such services, on the fly, at power-on or whenever a thing description changes. The architecture takes advantage of widely used device management, micro-services, security, and communication standards and protocols. We present details of IoT-DDL and corresponding parts of the thing architecture. We demonstrate some features of IoT-DDL and the architecture through proof-of-concept implementations. Finally, we present a benchmarking study to measure and assess time performance and energy consumption characteristics of our architecture and IoT-DDL on real hardware platforms.

Summary: The study demonstrated that Molibresib at a once daily dose of 75 mg did not show unexpected toxicities, with common treatment-related adverse events including thrombocytopenia, nausea, and decreased appetite. Antitumor activity was observed in NC and CRPC, although predefined clinically meaningful response rates were not met for any tumor type. Investigations into combinatorial approaches using BET inhibition to eliminate resistance to other targeted therapies are warranted.

Summary: This paper presents a novel electrostatic Roll/Pitch MEMS gyroscope with in-plane drive mode and out-of-plane sense mode. The proposed structure decouples the drive and sense modes, and a multi-height deep reactive ion etching process is used to enhance this decoupling. Experimental results show a good agreement between the analytical model and the actual measurements.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the mental health of the Libyan population. The results showed that a significant number of respondents reported severe depressive symptoms (13.6%), severe anxiety symptoms (5.6%), and post-traumatic stress disorder (19.8%). Factors such as young age, being female, unmarried, educated, victims of domestic violence or abuse, work suspension, increased workload, financial issues, suicidal thoughts, and having a family member with or hospitalized due to COVID-19 were significantly associated with a higher likelihood of mental health disorders.

Diagenetic Facies and Their Controls on the Quality of Tight Sandstone Reservoirs: A Case Study from the Upper Paleozoic Gas Reservoir in the Eastern Ordos Basin, North China

Summary: Diagenetic facies are crucial in assessing and predicting reservoirs as they provide comprehensive information on deposition, diagenesis, and petrophysical properties. This study identified six types of diagenetic facies and analyzed their influence on the quality of low-permeability tight gas reservoirs. The findings showed that diagenetic facies A, with weak compaction, and B, C, and D, with strong dissolution, are effective reservoirs with porosity greater than 6.6% and permeability greater than 0.25 - 0.6 x 10(-3) μm2. The distribution areas of these facies serve as favorable areas for tight gas exploration and are important indicators for predicting tight gas in the Upper Paleozoic Shanxi Formation in the eastern Ordos Basin. This study presents a new petrographic method with practical and economic significance for reservoir prediction and natural gas exploration.

Characteristics and evolution of faults in the north-central Yin'e Basin and the effects on the coal-seam in the Cretaceous strata

Summary: Research on the faults and their evolutionary history in the Suhongtu-Dagu depressions since the Cretaceous provides a theoretical basis for the geological evaluation of coal seams in the Suhongtu Formation in the Yin'e Basin. Through various techniques, the study clarified the planar and profile distributions of faults, as well as their evolutionary history and the tectonic history of the depressions. The results revealed the variations in fault distribution and identified three types of faults, which played a strong role in controlling and influencing the development and modification of coal seams in the Cretaceous Suhongtu Formation.

SafeCity: A Heterogeneous Mobile Crowd Sensing System for Urban Public Safety

Summary: This paper introduces two new optimization algorithms, ProxRR and FedRR, which show good performance in finite-sum minimization problems. ProxRR algorithm significantly accelerates the computation speed by evaluating the proximal operator only once per epoch.
