Summary: Existing quality of care frameworks lack integration of perspectives from physicians, nurses, and patients. This study collected narratives from these three groups to explore if their perspectives could contribute new content to current definitions. The results revealed aspects of quality of care such as successful communication, staff motivation, knowledge errors, prioritization of patient-preferred outcomes, institutional emphasis on quality cultures, and organizational implementation of fluid system procedures. Additionally, Hippocratic pride and Rapid reactivity emerged as new outcome indicators of high-quality care.

Summary: In this study, the VCD and IR spectra of chiral isomers of methyloxirane and methylthiirane were reinvestigated using experimental and theoretical approaches. Anharmonic corrections were taken into account to better understand the active anharmonic modes and the role of mechanical and electrical anharmonicity in determining the intensities of VCD and IR/NIR data.

Summary: Maintaining students' learning engagement during emergency online education was challenging during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study investigated the impact of social interaction on engagement and self-directed study in online learning among first-year Japanese university students. The results showed that social interaction had a positive indirect effect on self-directed study, mediated by emotional and behavioral engagement, in both the first and second years of the pandemic. Increasing opportunities for social interaction in online classes may enhance learning outcomes outside the virtual classroom.

Summary: Play is an effective alternative to traditional lecturing for engaging children in learning. Learning through Play (LtP) involves multi-sensory participation, interpersonal interaction, and hands-on operation, effectively motivating children to learn. A survey in first-tier cities of China showed that LtP has gained popularity both conceptually and practically. Stakeholders recognize the effectiveness of LtP in children's learning, but factors such as structural weaknesses, participants, environment, and culture influence its effectiveness. This study provides a reference for promoting the theory and practice of children's multimodal learning with a playful approach.

Summary: We investigated whether sign-naive learners can learn the meaning of signs after minimal exposure to weather forecasts in Swedish Sign Language. Participants were L1-English adults, and the results showed that exposure and item frequency enhanced meaning assignment. Visual factors such as iconicity and transparency were found to affect accuracy, while gesture similarity did not. Overall, visually motivated meaning assignment was not always successful.

Summary: This study, based on the User Satisfaction and Technology Acceptance Integration Theory, analyzed the factors influencing college students' acceptance and satisfaction of online learning platforms and the differences in these factors between blended learning and online learning scenarios. The results showed that the quality of the online learning platform and information quality significantly influenced user satisfaction, which in turn affected usefulness and ease of use, and ultimately influenced attitude and intention. The comparison between the two groups revealed significant differences in the impact of information quality on information satisfaction and the impact of perceived usefulness on usage intention. In the online learning scenario, the endogenous latent variables of the model had higher explanatory power, indicating that learners rely more on the quality and relevant characteristics of the learning platform in the online learning scenario.

Summary: With the progress of global urbanization, urban streetscapes have become a crucial part of urban public spaces. However, certain issues, such as excessive focus on surface and light protection, still exist in the construction of urban streetscapes. This study proposes a method that combines deep learning and machine learning to quantify the spatial quality of urban streets by integrating a large number of streetscape images. The evaluation of street landscape quality in the main urban area of Fuzhou City showed high overall quality with a pattern of concentrated high values in the center and dispersed high values in the periphery. Based on the quantification of spatial quality, strategies such as pavement layout and visual landscape element control should be regulated to improve the construction of cities.

Summary: The study showed that most laboratories performed well in correctly identifying the polymer type in samples and quantifying and weighing the particles. However, there was significant variation in the analysis of particle number in the soda tablets among different laboratories. The results highlight the complexity of microplastics analysis and the need for harmonization in both reporting format and methods.

Summary: A prospective study in Germany found that colorectal cancer patients often experience fatigue, poor ability to work, and low quality of life after therapy. Fatigue is strongly correlated with quality of life, and moderately correlated with the ability to work. The study showed significant improvement in fatigue, quality of life, and ability to work from the start of rehabilitation to the three-month follow-up, with little change afterward in the first year after rehabilitation.

Summary: The study introduces a new ensemble machine learning model, Extra Tree Regression (ETR), for predicting monthly Water Quality Index (WQI) values at the Lam Tsuen River in Hong Kong. The ETR model generally produces more accurate WQI predictions for both training and testing phases, demonstrating improvement in prediction performance and reduction in the number of input parameters compared to previous approaches.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate persistent symptoms up to 12 months after COVID-19 in non-hospitalized patients and their impact on work ability. The results showed that 47% of the respondents reported persistent symptoms 12 months after COVID-19 diagnosis, with impaired sense of smell and/or taste and fatigue being the most commonly reported symptoms. Predictors of persistent symptoms included being born abroad, lower physical fitness compared with peers before COVID-19, body mass index >25 kg/m(2), cooccurrence of hypertension and chronic pain, and having more than seven of the general COVID-19 symptoms at the onset. The study highlights the importance of considering work ability after mild COVID-19.

Summary: This study investigates economic self-sufficiency and the impact of health status on self-sufficiency for immigrants. The proportion of self-sufficiency during years 1-10 after receiving a residence permit is compared between non-European labour immigrants, refugees, and Swedish-born individuals. Cox regression models are used to analyze the risk of not being self-sufficient in year 10, and the results show that both labour immigrants and refugees have a higher risk compared to Swedish-born individuals. The impact of having a diagnosis from specialised health care on self-sufficiency is also analyzed.

Summary: This study aimed to describe the risk-reducing actions proposed by ergonomists and workers after an occupational health surveillance process for workers exposed to hand-intensive work in ten companies. Ergonomists proposed personal measures more often while workers targeted technology or organizational changes. Six companies implemented at least one action proposal, but evaluation and relation to evaluation metrics were lacking. This study highlights the need for guidance to improve the participatory process and include workers' experiences in the implementation and evaluation of risk-reducing actions.
