This paper provides a comprehensive overview of the recent advances in the field of wireless contactless sensing circuits and systems for healthcare and biomedical applications. In particular, special emphasis is made on wireless implantable devices, radar-based techniques to detect human motions, such as vital signs or gestures, wireless neural interfacing and prosthesis, and the characterization of biological materials by means of imaging approaches as well as the determination of their electrical properties. It is believed that this overview can serve as a starting point to the biomedical wireless-sensing topic and could encourage researchers and practitioners to continue works in the exciting area of wireless technologies with application to healthcare and biomedical contexts.
