Summary: This narrative review provides an overview of research on emotional information processing in overweight and obese individuals. Evidence suggests that obesity is associated with reduced emotional experience, conflicting findings in emotion recognition, and limited research on automatic emotional information processing. Concluding considerations for future research on emotional information processing in this population are made.

Summary: This study found a high prevalence rate of psychological distress among Chinese nurses at 83.3%. Job insecurity was positively correlated with psychological distress, with self-esteem potentially mediating the relationship between the two factors. It is important for nursing administrators to take action to improve self-esteem and minimize the negative impacts of job insecurity on nurses' psychological well-being.

Summary: This study aims to test the hypothesis that the association between Trait EI and General Distress in individuals with Rosacea would be mediated by Self-Esteem and Social Phobia. Results showed that Trait EI was positively related to Self-Esteem and negatively related to Social Phobia and General Distress. Moreover, both Self-Esteem and Social Phobia played a mediating role in the relationship between Trait EI and General Distress.

Summary: This study examined the trajectories of overweight/obesity in Hong Kong Chinese children and their associations with self-esteem. The findings revealed that late-onset or chronic overweight/obesity predicted low self-esteem, particularly in the domains of general, social, and academic/school-related self-esteem. On the other hand, children in the early-onset overweight/obesity group showed no significant differences except for a lower risk of low social self-esteem.

Summary: This study explores the impact of stereotypes and social prejudice on the professional identity of male nurses and male nursing students, as well as the indirect and direct effects of self-esteem on professional identity. The results show that self-esteem indirectly affects professional identity through perceived prejudice and psychological distress, while also directly influencing professional identity. Additionally, 81.7% of participants reported experiencing psychological distress.

Summary: Studies have shown that there is a negative correlation between perceived control and emotional distress. This study examines the mediating role of perceived stress in this relationship and explores whether psychological resources, such as self-esteem and social support, moderate the association between perceived stress and emotional distress. The findings reveal that both internal and external psychological resources moderate the association, and there are sex differences in the moderating effects. This research enhances understanding of the relationship between perceived control and emotional distress, highlighting the importance of gender-specific intervention programs.

Summary: The relationship between adiposity and cardiovascular disease morbidity and mortality is complex. The current study aimed to examine the association between two metrics of adiposity and two indices of cardiovascular stress responses. The results showed that there were no statistically significant associations between adiposity and cardiovascular stress reactivity or habituation.

Summary: The study aimed to assess the effects of a group intervention combining self-hypnosis and self-care on cancer patients' self-esteem, emotional distress, emotion regulation, and mindfulness abilities. Participants in the intervention group showed improvements in self-esteem, emotional distress, emotion regulation strategies, and mindfulness abilities compared to the control group. The increase in mindfulness abilities played a significant role in predicting improvements in self-esteem and emotional distress, highlighting the importance of mindfulness as a key factor in the intervention effectiveness.

Summary: In the past 50 years, the increase in overweight/obese individuals has made obesity a global public health challenge. Obesity is a complex disease influenced by genetic, epigenetic, and environmental factors. Non-genetic factors, such as eating behavior and physical activity, interact with genetic predispositions through epigenetic mechanisms. Intervention studies, particularly those documenting changes in obesity-associated epigenetic markers during lifestyle-driven weight loss, contribute to a better understanding of epigenetic reprogramming in obesity. However, further robust and larger studies are needed to identify specific DNA methylation biomarkers influencing obesity.

Summary: This study analyzed data from two studies and found that there is a positive association between body size perception and body size dissatisfaction among girls with normal weight and overweight/obesity. Underestimators who were satisfied with their body size had lower zBMI, less screen time, and longer sleep duration compared to dissatisfied underestimators. These findings suggest that body size satisfaction and underestimation in adolescents are associated with healthier lifestyle behaviors.

Summary: Disordered eating behaviors (DEBs) and adolescent pregnancy are public health concerns, but there is little evidence on the relationship between DEB and gestational weight gain (GWG) and birth weight and length of adolescents' offspring. The study found that 50% of adolescents had at least one DEB, with DEB associated with GWG but not with the birth weight or length of the offspring.

Summary: This study evaluated the effectiveness of 3,3'-diindolylmethane (DIM) supplementation on EMUR in premenopausal Mexican women. The results showed that DIM did not significantly increase EMUR after 30 days of supplementation, but there was a non-significant positive trend 30 days after supplementation ended. Additionally, the DIM group had a more significant decrease in body fat percentage compared to the placebo group.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the association between eating habits, lifestyle characteristics, body mass index (BMI), and gastrointestinal health risk. The findings showed that variables such as irregular exercise, inadequate water and vegetable intake, high body weight, and use of symptomatic medication explained 73% of the probabilities of poor gastrointestinal health. Additionally, women had a higher risk of functional bowel disorder than men, and they experienced more intestinal symptoms and constipation.

Summary: About 56% to 84% of pregnant adolescents experience inappropriate gestational weight gain. This scoping review aimed to synthesize the available scientific evidence on the association of individual, family, and social factors with gestational weight gain in pregnant adolescents. The evidencesuggests that pre-pregnancy body mass index (pBMI) is positively associated with gestational weight gain, but insufficient evidence exists for other factors.
