Summary: This article demonstrates the technique of discoid excision of bowel endometriosis followed by closure of the bowel defect using sutures. It highlights the advantages of using sutures instead of the transanal stapler, specifically in cases where the pathology is located higher than 15 cm from the anal verge or the diameter of the nodule is more than 30 mm.

Summary: This study retrospectively analyzed the outcomes of laparoscopic rectosigmoid resection with preservation of the inferior mesenteric artery (IMA) in treating deep infiltrating endometriosis. The results showed that IMA-sparing surgery can be safely performed without an increased risk of postoperative complications such as anastomotic leak.

Summary: This study aims to compare postoperative complications and rectovaginal fistula rate in women undergoing excision of large rectovaginal endometriosis with different policies for preventive stoma confection. A retrospective cohort study found no significant difference in the risk of rectovaginal fistula in women requiring large rectal and vaginal excision after a decision to no longer routinely perform preventive stoma.

Summary: This study aimed to compare the rate of rectovaginal fistulas in women with deep endometriosis treated with either a liberal policy of preventive stoma (LPS) or a more restrictive policy of preventive stoma (RPS), and to identify risk factors for rectovaginal fistula. The study found no statistically significant differences in the risk of rectovaginal fistula between the two treatment approaches.

Summary: The objective of this study was to compare the health-related quality of life and cost-effectiveness of robot-assisted laparoscopic surgery (RALS) and conventional straight stick laparoscopic surgery (CLS) in women undergoing hysterectomy for gynecological malignancies. The results showed that, after adjusting for differences in morbidity, RALS was cost-effective with lower costs and better quality-adjusted life years (QALYs).

Summary: A bidirectional association between endometriosis and psoriasis with PsA was found in this study. Psoriasis with concomitant PsA was associated with a higher risk of laparoscopically confirmed endometriosis, while the diagnosis of endometriosis was suggestive of subsequent risk of psoriasis with PsA.

Summary: A cohort study in China found that D3 + CME surgery can significantly improve surgical and oncological outcomes for early-stage right colon cancer, including lymph node harvest, intraoperative blood loss, and 5-year disease-free survival. However, larger randomized controlled trials are needed to confirm these findings.

Summary: This retrospective study evaluated the clinical outcomes of laparoscopic and open lateral pelvic lymph node dissection (LPLND) surgeries for rectal cancer. The results showed that laparoscopic LPLND had less blood loss, lower transfusion rate, fewer wound infections, and decreased neuropathy compared to open LPLND. Although operating times were longer, there was no significant difference in lateral pelvic recurrence rate and survival rate between the two groups.

Summary: After a 28-year follow-up study, it was found that women with endometriosis have a higher risk of stroke, with factors such as hysterectomy/oophorectomy and hormone therapy playing a role in the association. Age, history of infertility, body mass index, and menopausal status did not affect the relationship between endometriosis and stroke.

Summary: In this study, laparoscopic disc excision was found to be an effective surgical treatment for selected residual rectal nodules < 3.0 cm in bowel endometriosis. The concomitant radical DE excision contributed to a significant improvement of symptoms with an acceptable complications' rate. The study showed an improvement of all symptoms postoperatively and a pregnancy rate of 42.2% among patients with childbearing desire.

Summary: The study investigated the impact of different surgical interventions for bowel/intestinal endometriosis on the mode of labor and delivery in women, revealing a lack of consensus and wide practice variations among clinicians. Findings showed that around 70% of clinicians do not counsel patients on delivery options pre-surgery, yet almost one-third would recommend a planned caesarean section if the vagina is opened. Further research is needed to assess risk factors for vaginal delivery or caesarean section in these patients, and guidance from professional societies would be beneficial for patient counseling and informed consent.

Summary: Advanced abdominal pregnancy (AAP) is a rare condition with significant risks for both mother and fetus. Early diagnosis and appropriate management can lead to successful outcomes. There are no specific diagnostic criteria, but magnetic resonance imaging is the preferred method. Treatment options depend on gestational age and placental penetration.

Summary: This study reveals a significantly higher level of vaccine hesitancy among Black midwives and highlights differences between ethnic groups. The main concerns include long-term effects of the vaccine, fast development, allergic reactions, and concerns about fertility. Therefore, addressing vaccine hesitancy among midwifery staff is essential to improve vaccine uptake in the pregnant population.

Summary: This study developed and validated a novel index (SPI) to support the strengthening of local elective surgical systems and address growing backlogs. The findings showed that hospitals with a higher SPI were associated with an increased planned surgical volume ratio, independent of income status, COVID-19 burden, and hospital type. Annual self-assessment of surgical preparedness is recommended to identify areas for improvement and enhance the resilience of local surgical systems.

Summary: Interstitial pregnancies present diagnostic and management challenges with significant bleeding risk. This case report highlights the diagnostic delay caused by uterine fibroids and the need for laparoscopic myomectomy before laparoscopic resection of the ruptured interstitial pregnancy. It emphasizes the possibilities of laparoscopy in ectopic pregnancy, underscores the importance of a structured 'buddy' system in gynecology surgery, and draws attention to the lack of literature on managing ectopic pregnancy in the presence of leiomyoma.

Summary: There is emerging evidence that vaginal birth after open and laparoscopic myomectomy may be safe in many pregnancies. A retrospective questionnaire survey of women who had undergone myomectomy followed by pregnancy revealed that a significant percentage of women felt inadequately involved in the decision-making process for their birth plan. The majority of women expressed a preference for vaginal birth in future pregnancies.

Summary: Hormonal treatment plays an important role in the management of endometriosis, providing symptom relief, reducing surgical complications, and offering postoperative benefits such as pain reduction, decreased disease recurrence, and improved pregnancy rates. The treatment of endometriosis can be broadly classified into medical treatment, commonly using hormonal suppression medications, and surgical treatment, which involves excision or ablation of endometriosis tissue. This review aims to outline current management strategies and examine the relationship between these two treatment modalities.

Summary: This study examined the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the management of ectopic pregnancy. The results showed that the risk of ruptured ectopic pregnancy and complications was lower in units with an Early Pregnancy Unit (EPU) structure, while the risk was higher in units without EPU structures. This suggests that EPU structures contribute to prompt diagnosis and safe management of ectopic pregnancy.
