Summary: This study explores participant engagement in a web-based dietary program for individuals with type 2 diabetes through a mixed methods approach. The findings indicate that sustained frequency and intensity of engagement, structured program delivery, positive affective engagement, and participant's experience of value and reward contribute to effective engagement. The user-centered development process prior to intervention delivery also plays a crucial role in facilitating positive engagement outcomes.

Summary: This study aimed to encourage commercial fishermen to wear personal flotation devices (PFDs) on deck through targeted health communication and social marketing. The survey results showed that the multimedia campaign had a significant impact on the audience, with respondents expressing positive opinions about the spokesman and the messages. There was also a reported change in behavior, with more workers wearing PFDs while working on deck. Therefore, targeted multimedia messaging can effectively influence workers' behavior in high-risk industries.

Summary: This feasibility study evaluated the acceptability and potential effects of culturally tailored dance on physical activity and social cognitive determinants among South Asian women in the Netherlands. The results showed that cultural appropriateness and non-competitiveness were the main reasons for participation. On average, participants spent a considerable amount of time in physical activity and had increased step counts. At follow-up, there was an increase in moderate-to-vigorous physical activity and step counts, along with a decrease in light physical activity, and positive shifts in some social cognitive determinants.

Summary: A cluster randomised trial conducted in Cote d'Ivoire found that a social norm-based handwashing intervention combined with disgust-inducing messages and provision of handwashing stations was effective at increasing handwashing with soap after toilet use. Providing handwashing stations alone had little effect. Future studies should investigate whether similar results can be achieved through mass media delivery.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the intervention effectiveness of a mobile app for precision oral self-care in patients with periodontitis. The results showed that the frequency of app use was positively correlated with app likeability, which significantly influenced oral hygiene improvement. Further analysis revealed that behavioral changes, frequency of app use, and smoking status impacted oral hygiene improvement. Therefore, the app-based mobile intervention may be valuable for precision oral self-care in patients with periodontitis.

Summary: This paper examines the contribution of pilot implementation studies to the wider spread and sustainability of innovation in healthcare systems. Through an empirical examination of an innovation intermediary organization in the English NHS, the study finds that their work in mobilizing pilot-based evidence involves configuring to context, transitioning evidence, and managing the transition. The findings contribute to theory by showing how intermediary roles can support the effective transitioning of pilot-based evidence, leading to more widespread adoption and sustainability of innovation.
