Summary: The study revealed frequent overexpression of immune checkpoint proteins in tumor tissue from patients with MYC-overexpressing DLBCL and BCLU/HGBL, with differences in overexpression patterns based on MYC-R status. These findings provide a biological rationale for investigating the use of checkpoint inhibitor therapies in these subgroups.

Summary: Computational systems for studying and diagnosing non-Hodgkin's lymphomas have been developed to assist specialists in decision-making. However, the use of sample entropy to assess disease characteristics and distinguish different types of lymphomas has not been fully explored. In this study, a method utilizing sample entropy signatures, multiple segmentation techniques, and color normalization models was proposed to study chronic lymphocytic leukemia, follicular lymphoma, and mantle cell lymphoma. The approach showed significant advances in computer-aided diagnosis systems by providing accurate results without the need for preprocessing steps.

Summary: Classic Hodgkin lymphoma (CHL) patients may have prior or recurrent diseases resembling non-Hodgkin lymphomas, which pose challenges for diagnosis. A study of CHL patients revealed shared genetic variants between CHL and other lymphomas such as PMBL, DLBCL, or MGZL, suggesting clonal relationships. Mutational profiling can provide valuable information for guiding therapeutic decisions in patients with refractory disease. These findings contribute to a better understanding of the genetic events and clinical impact of CHL and related lymphomas.

Summary: Medulloblastoma (MB) is the most common malignant pediatric brain tumor, classified into different molecular subgroups. Mass spectrometry-based proteomics and phosphoproteomics were used to study MB, and the PDX tumors of MB were found to have similar proteomic profiles with primary human MB tumors. Additionally, several potential pathways that could serve as new therapeutic targets for MB were identified.

Summary: Myc inhibits LAPTM5 expression in B-lymphoma cells by binding to its promoter and activating miR-17-3p, which leads to the downregulation of LAPTM5 protein synthesis. This interaction between Myc, LAPTM5, and miR-17-3p promotes the growth and progression of B-lymphomas.

Summary: Intensive chemotherapy showed significantly longer progression free survival (PFS) for advanced stage DHL and THL, but no impact on overall survival (OS). Patients with central nervous system (CNS) involvement had significantly lower survival rates. More prospective randomized trials are needed for the treatment of DHL and THL in Europe.

Summary: SARS-CoV-2 vaccines do not seem to be associated with the development of lymphomas in the lymph nodes of the deltoid region used for vaccination. The study found that cases of unilateral axillary lymphomas occurred both before and after the introduction of SARS-CoV-2 vaccines, and there was no evidence of a correlation between the vaccines and the malignant clonotypes.

Summary: Normal B-cell development is a tightly regulated complex procedure, the deregulation of which can lead to lymphomagenesis. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) play a significant role in indolent B-cell NHLs by influencing gene expression regulation networks. Understanding the multifaceted role of miRNAs in B-cell lymphomas could provide insights into potential biomarkers and therapeutic targets for these malignancies.

Summary: Primary gastric lymphomas are distinct lymphoproliferative neoplasms with heterogeneous clinical and molecular profiles. Clinical research in this field has been lacking sufficient data to guide optimal care, with a multidisciplinary approach typically employed. Immunochemotherapy, particularly rituximab-CHOP, shows promise for achieving better outcomes in management.

Summary: Session IV of the 2020 EAHP Workshop focused on the classification of aggressive B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphomas. This manuscript summarizes the features of submitted cases and highlights the challenges in differential diagnosis. Specific issues discussed include high-grade B-cell lymphomas with MYC and BCL2 and/or BCL6 rearrangements, large B-cell lymphomas with IRF4 rearrangement, high-grade/large B-cell lymphomas with 11q aberration, Burkitt lymphoma, and pleomorphic mantle cell lymphoma.
