Oxidative desulfurization of fuels at room temperature using ordered meso/macroporous H3PW12O40/SiO2 catalyst with high specific surface areas

Ordered meso/macroporous H3PW12O40/SiO2 nanocomposites with high specific surface areas were prepared using cationic surfactant and monodispersed polystyrene spheres (PS) as dualtemplate. The characterization results of scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), N-2 adsorption-desorption, and small-angle XRD patterns confirmed the existence of ordered meso/macroporous structure and the wide-angle XRD patterns, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray photoemission spectroscopy (XPS) measurements suggested the high dispersivity of the Keggin-type heteropolyacid (HPA) on silica matrix. There was an optimum value of cationic surfactant usage and proper calcination temperature of ordered me so/macroporous H3PW12O40/SiO2 catalyst leading to ultra-high specific surface areas. Furthermore, the ordered meso/macroporous H3PW12O40/SiO2 catalyst was evaluated for ultra-deep oxidative desulfurization (ODS) of cyclic sulphur-containing compounds using hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) as oxidant. Under optimum reaction conditions, dibenzothiophene (DBT) could be removed within 100 min at 30 degrees C by meso/macroporous H3PW12O40/SiO2 catalyst. The excellent catalytic activity should be attributed to the combination of ordered meso/macroporous architecture and high surface area of H3PW12O40/SiO2 catalyst which promoted the mass transport of reactants and products in the pore channel and provided more accessible catalytic active sites. In addition, the meso/macroporous H3PW12O40/SiO2 catalyst showed good stability with only 1.9% efficiency decreased after 6 cycles. (C) 2018 Production and hosting by Elsevier B.V.

Summary: DIII-D physics research addresses critical challenges for the operation of ITER and the next generation of fusion energy devices by focusing on innovations for high performance long pulse operation and fundamental plasma physics understanding. The genetic composition of E. granulosus s.l. in China is mainly G1 and G3, with G1 being the most common genotype, predominantly found in sheep and yaks. Summary: An imaging neutral particle analyzer (INPA) was used to diagnose fast-ion flow driven by multiple marginally unstable Alfv ’en eigenmodes (AEs) in the DIII-D tokamak. Traditional energetic particle diffusivity modeling failed to interpret the observed fast ion depletion, while self-consistent multi-phase hybrid simulations were able to reproduce most features of the observed phase-space flow.

Mode structure measurements of ion cyclotron emission and sub-cyclotron modes on DIII-D

Summary: This study reports on mode structure measurements of coherent ion cyclotron emission (ICE) and sub-cyclotron modes on the DIII-D device. In L-mode plasmas, resonant peaks at harmonics of the ion cyclotron frequency were observed in the core of the plasma. Sub-cyclotron modes were also observed in L-mode plasmas when the toroidal magnetic field strength was lowered. In H-mode plasmas, ICE harmonics localized to the plasma edge were observed. Polarization estimates indicate compressional polarization at the plasma edge for both ICE and sub-cyclotron modes. The same harmonics were observed on both the centerpost and outer wall loops, indicating poloidal extension of ICE. Toroidal mode numbers were calculated for both core ICE and sub-cyclotron modes in L-mode plasmas.

Energetic particle-induced geodesic acoustic modes on DIII-D

Summary: This study explores various properties of the energetic particle-induced geodesic acoustic mode (EGAM) using a large database analysis of DIII-D experimental data. The analysis reveals that EGAMs are most easily destabilized by counter plasma current beams and the mode frequency has a strong linear dependence on the safety factor. Summary: The dependencies of Alfvenic instabilities driven by runaway electrons (REs) during current quench in DIII-D on plasma and material injection parameters were investigated. The observed instabilities in the frequency range of 0.1-3 MHz are correlated with increased RE loss and may play a role in non-sustained RE beams.

Below the threshold, fast ions are well-confined without noticeable transport. Near the threshold, fast ions exhibit transport through AE-driven flow along streamlines. Above the threshold, fast ions show strong critical gradient behavior with prompt transport along streamlines.

Surfactants interaction with sulfathiazole: Spectroscopic, conductometric, and thermodynamic approach

Summary: This study investigates the interaction between sulfathiazole and three types of surfactants using UV-visible spectroscopy and conductivity measurements. The results show that the critical micelle concentration of cationic and anionic surfactants decreases with increasing sulfathiazole concentration, while the interaction with non-ionic surfactant is weak.

The presence of bromide ions, organic carbon, free chlorine, and pH values were found to affect trihalomethane formation.

Effect of interlayer anions on the catalytic activity of Mg-Al layered double hydroxides for furfural and acetone aldol condensation reaction

Summary: The study shows that Mg-Al hydrotalcite catalysts intercalated with acetate and carbonate anions exhibit superior catalytic activity in the aldol condensation reaction between furfural and acetone. The optimal reaction conditions are at 90 degrees C for 2 hours, achieving conversion rates of over 98% with high selectivity towards F2A for the acetate catalyst.

Development and evaluation of rosmarinic acid loaded novel fluorescent porous organosilica nanoparticles as potential drug delivery system for cancer treatment

Summary: This study aimed to enhance the bioavailability of rosmarinic acid, a bioactive compound with high anticancer activity, by encapsulating it in tetrasulfide-based porous organosilica nanoparticles. The synthesized nanoparticles were small in size and had a high surface area and an average pore diameter. The nanoparticles showed effective accumulation in cancer cells without toxicity to normal cells. Treatment with rosmarinic acid-containing nanoparticles resulted in significant cell death in cancer cells. Overall, these findings suggest that the synthesized nanoparticles can enhance the pharmacological effects of rosmarinic acid.

Interaction mechanism of nordentatin with human α-1 acid glycoprotein and human colorectal cancer HCT-116 cells

Summary: Plasma protein binding plays a crucial role in the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of therapeutic bioactive materials. In this study, the interaction of nordentatin, a member of coumarins, with human alpha-1 acid glycoprotein (AGP) was investigated, and the anticancer potency of nordentatin against human colorectal cancer cells was evaluated. The results showed that nordentatin binds to AGP through a static quenching mechanism and exhibits inhibitory effects on the growth of HCT-116 cells by increasing intracellular ROS and [Ca2+] levels and triggering apoptosis-related gene overexpression. Therefore, nordentatin could be a promising plant-based therapy for colorectal cancer.

Resveratrol-loaded copolymer nanoparticles with anti-neurological impairment, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities against cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury

Efficient lead removal from aqueous solutions using a new sulfonated covalent organic framework: Synthesis, characterization, and adsorption performance

Summary: The aim of removing Pb(II) from water is to minimize the potential harm posed by toxic metals to both human health and the environment. A covalent organic framework adsorbent called TFPOTDB-SO3H was developed with excellent properties such as high repeatability, selectivity, and easy solid-liquid separation. The adsorbent showed impressive capability of adsorbing Pb(II) and effective removal of it from a solution with various ions, suggesting its potential for effectively adsorbing and removing Pb(II) heavy metal ions from wastewater.

Dielectric and thermal behavior investigation of Mn-Zn nano ferrite-fluid for transformer oil applications

The results show that the addition of Mn-Zn ferrite NPs improves the dielectric constant, dissipation factor, AC breakdown voltage, and convective heat transfer of the nanofluid.

Determination of lincomycin residues of animal derived food by pre-column derivatization with HPLC -UVD

By using a pre-column derivatization method on high-performance liquid chromatography equipped with ultraviolet, the UV absorption of lincomycin is improved, allowing for detection and quantification.

Pharmacological and computational evaluation of an isoxazolone derivative for mitigating cisplatin-induced neuropathic pain

Summary: This study evaluated the effects of isoxazolone derivatives on cisplatin-induced neuropathy in a rat model. The results showed that isoxazolone derivatives effectively reversed mechanical allodynia, similar to the known therapeutic agent pregabalin. Molecular docking analysis indicated that isoxazolone derivatives have strong binding affinity for relevant receptors and potential inhibitory activity against relevant signaling pathways. This study has innovative implications for the treatment of cisplatin-induced neuropathic pain.

Green synthesis and antibacterial assessment of chitosan/silver nanocomposite conjugated with tobramycin against antibiotic resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa

Summary: In this study, we synthesized chitosan nanoparticles, silver nanoparticles, and chitosan/silver nanocomposites using aqueous ginger extract as a green approach. These nanomaterials showed significant antibacterial properties and low toxicity. Furthermore, the nanomaterials conjugated with tobramycin demonstrated enhanced antibacterial efficacy and exhibited interactions with Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
