Summary: The dysregulation of store-operated Ca2+ entry (SOCE) is associated with cancer progression. Upregulation of stromal interaction molecule 1 (STIM1) promotes cancer cell migration, invasion, and metastasis, while excessive Ca2+ can have a negative impact on cancer metastasis.

Summary: Osteosarcoma is a commonly occurring primary malignant tumor of bone in children and adolescents, and is considered a refractory oncological disease. Kinesin superfamily proteins (KIFs) have been found to play important roles in many tumors and may serve as predictors for cancer diagnosis and prognosis. This study aimed to investigate the function mechanism of KIF15 in osteosarcoma.

Summary: The downregulation of miR-601 in osteosarcoma was found in this study. Patients with lower expression of miR-601 had worse prognosis. In vitro and in vivo experiments showed that elevated miR-601 inhibited the proliferative, migratory, and invasive capacities of osteosarcoma cells. These effects were mediated by miR-601 targeting PKMYT1.

Summary: The study identified that high expression of lncRNA GNAS-AS1 in OS is associated with malignancy and distant metastasis, serving as an independent prognostic predictor. Additionally, inhibition of lncRNA GNAS-AS1 can slow down the progression of OS.

Summary: The study investigates the role of integrin alpha v beta 3 engagement with its ligand in metabolic reprogramming in glioblastoma cells. It was found that integrin alpha v beta 3 increases glucose uptake and aerobic glycolysis, while decreasing mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation. The interaction of integrin alpha v beta 3 with osteopontin plays a crucial role in promoting metabolic shift towards glycolysis and inhibiting mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation, leading to changes in cell behavior such as migration and invasion.

Summary: miR-1274a expression is decreased in osteosarcoma tissues and associated with distant metastasis and clinical stages. Low miR-1274a levels may predict poor overall survival and disease-free survival in osteosarcoma patients. Overexpression of miR-1274a can inhibit osteosarcoma cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, while ADAM9 is identified as a direct target of miR-1274a in osteosarcoma cells.

Summary: The study revealed that lnc MATN1-AS1 is significantly elevated in osteosarcoma cells and tissues, associated with tumor staging, lung metastasis, and histologic type. Patients with high lnc MATN1-AS1 levels had shorter overall survival and recurrence-free survival. Knockdown of lnc MATN1-AS1 inhibited OS cell proliferation, migration, and invasion by sponging miR-1299, indicating its oncogenic features and prognostic significance in OS.

Summary: Gastric cancer is common in China and has a high mortality rate. The development of gastric cancer is influenced by genetic and environmental factors. FAK, a protein kinase, is highly expressed in cancer and plays a role in promoting cancer cell proliferation, migration, and angiogenesis. IL-8, which is upregulated in many types of malignant tumors, also affects the proliferation, migration, invasion, angiogenesis, and EMT of cancer cells. This study found that FAK is essential for the proliferation, migration, and peritoneal metastasis of gastric cancer cells, and that IL-8 activates FAK activity. The IL-8-FAK-IL-8 positive feedback loop plays a role in the proliferation and migration of gastric cancer cells.

Summary: The study revealed that zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) were rapidly internalized by osteosarcoma cells, accumulating in mitochondria before being trapped in lysosomes. The use of dynasore proved to be the most effective in blocking ZnO NP uptake and rescuing ZnO NP-induced autophagic cell death and apoptosis in osteosarcoma cells. Furthermore, the key role of dynamin 2 in ZnO NP endocytosis and subsequent autophagic cell death was confirmed both in vitro and in vivo.

Summary: This study demonstrates that C1632 can inhibit the proliferation and migration of ovarian cancer cells by concurrently inhibiting the LIN28B/let-7/FAK signaling pathway and FAK phosphorylation, and it also exhibits a significant inhibitory effect on ovarian cancer xenograft tumors in mice. Therefore, C1632 is a promising onco-therapeutic agent for the treatment of ovarian cancer.

Summary: This study found that CDC42EP3 is highly expressed in osteosarcoma and is associated with the progression of the disease. Knockdown of CDC42EP3 can inhibit tumor growth by suppressing proliferation, migration, and inducing apoptosis. Furthermore, CDC42EP3 knockdown can regulate the expression of epithelial and interstitial markers, as well as the PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway. Therefore, CDC42EP3 may be a potential target for osteosarcoma therapy.
